Is it supposed to be lighted when the headlights are on? I searched but could not find the anwer. TIA.

It appears that the ring lights up in older cars, but the feature may have been eliminated starting sometime during 2005.

 

I have an '02 and when my headlights are on the orange ring is on.

Illuminates on my '05 (April build)

 

I have an 03' and added the running light feature on my car. Now when I start my car, I always have my running lights on. So, now when I start my car, the cigarette lighter also lights up because of the lights I'm guessing? Idk, I like it though, lol.

So an '05 has the lighted cigarette lighter ring? The '05s and the '06s are pretty much the same, I think, so I will ask them to make it light up. There are a few small 'teething' issues that I would like to have the dealer look into

 

It does not light up in my '06 (9/2005 build). Someone in the MINI2 thread with a 7/2005 build said it does not light up in his, and his plug does not have a bulb holder nor a connector or wires for lighting. It's been a while since I took apart my center console, but my recollection is that it is the same situation in my car.
