DSC switch
DSC is Dynamic Stablity Control. With DSC ON, your car will brake for you around a turn, so you will straighten back out. When you're purposly trying to take hard turns (ie. Autocross) you will want to turn DSC OFF (when DSC is OFF, the light will come ON).
Best thing to do, is to take a turn a little fast, with the DSC on, then off, and you will see and feel the difference. Your car will "slide" through the turn with DSC OFF. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

They should rename it to "DFC" or dynamic fun control or more accurately "DLHYMILSIBSNLYHAFC" or dynamic like having your mother-in-law sitting in the back seat not letting you have any fun control

There is a button next to the odometer. If the time is displayed go to next step. If the trip meter is displayed, press the button, then go to next step.
With the clock displayed, press the button and hold it for 5 seconds to enter clock-setting mode. Then press the button again to change between 12hr/24hr time display.
To set time, after the above step, wait about 5 seconds until hour display flashes, the press the button to change the hour. Wait 5 seconds until minutes flash, then press the button to set the minutes. After about a minute the time is saved.
One thing you may not know is that some of the MINI clocks run fast. Mine gains about 5 minutes/month. It doesn't bother me enough to have it fixed right now, but I plan on putting it on the list of things to take care of during a service visit.

The clock procedure depends upon the model year, and if the clock display is in the headliner or the speedometer. Since the original poster said he got the car with no owner's manual, I'm assuming it's used, so who knows what model year it is.
Just yesterday I was demonstrating my '06 MCS to my sister and I wanted to show her the difference between DSC and non-DSC cornering. We went around a couple 90-degree blind corners without DSC (a little sliding about) and I went in a little too hot one one corner and was totally fishtailing out of control (my bad), but since the MINI is so awesome i was able to pull it back in (still getting used to not oversteering!)
Anyway, I switched the DSC back on and took the same corners just as hot, and the car stuck like it was on rails - granted I could feel the throttle drop a bit.

Yup. I took a turn a little bit to quick on a main road....
and I began to slide. Luckly, I got back ahold of the MINI and straighted it out...but that scared me! After that I look down and went, Oh crap, I didn't turn DSC off....
Btw: I felt like the back was beginning to slide out, so would this be oversteer or understeer?
