Woohoo! Our MINIs will be sharing birthdays as mine is scheduled for completion on 7/9 as well. Just got off the phone with Amy from AM (very nice woman with a cute voice ) and she informed me mine's in the paint shop. Almost there!

Too bad they can't share the ship coming over.

But maybe they can at least share the same ride down to the docks.

My wish might be coming true. ASKMini says my car is done, but hasn't been listed as done as far as the ID plates go. Good chance Gromit will have 7/11 as the date! Lucky Car!

Greg from A-M said my status is 182: Released to Carrier.

I was hoping I could sneak onto the Trinidad on 7/11 but it looks like I'll be boarding the Courage on 7/15 (if everything goes well). Anyone else going to keep me company on the 9-day trek across the Atlantic pond to NY?

Looks like I made it to the docks. I'm booked on the Trinidad according to the WW site, along with 158 other MINIs. According to the Southampton VTS - Shipping Movements site, it's scheduled to depart at 21:00 local time (4PM EST). I hope I make it and not get kicked off to be left stranded until the 7/15 Courage.

UPDATE: Looks like the departure time's been delayed to 23:00 local time (6PM EST). 91 MINIs were loaded onto Trinidad.

Another for week 28

I called Ask Mini this morning and was told that my Mini S was scheduled to commence production today, but that it is going to slip by a day or two. Not too bad, given I ordered it June 30. It should be completed by Monday they said. Hopefully, I will see it at my local dealer by August 1.

We're thinking of naming our new MINI "Alonso" after the F1 World Champ. Afterall, the car is Hyper Blue!

How about Ariel, the one time name of X-Man Kitty Pryde?

When I called ASK MINI this afternoon, I was told that my mini hadn't started production yet, but is still scheduled for 7/13 completion. I'm crossing my fingers that it will be finished in time to make it on the Courage (departing Southampton 7/15) but even if it gets pushed back to the Manon (7/18) it's not like it'd be that much longer.

Does anyone know the average total production time? Is 2 days really enough time to make my mini?!?

They make a Mini in ONE day, very easily. Then there's preparing for shipment and a few other things that take a little time.

I think the time depends on your options and accessories. Mine took 10 days from start to finish. Check out my timeline so far:

037 Order is at BMW NA [ON ORDER] 17JUN2006
087 Production Week Assigned
097 Order sent to factory 22JUN2006
111 Order Accepted at factory
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started [SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION] 29JUN2006
151 Body Shop Started 06JUL2006
152 Paint Shop Started 07JUL2006
153 Assembly Started 08JUL2006
155 Production Completed 09JUL2006
160 Released to Distribution
182 Released to Carrier [AWAITING TRANSPORTATION] 10JUL2006
190 Awaiting Transport
193 Arrived at Port of Exit [RECEIVED AT TERMINAL] 11JUL2006 Southampton, UK
194 Selected for Shipment [LOADED ON VESSEL] 11JUL2006 Vessel: Trinidad
195 Shipped from Port of Exit [EN ROUTE]
196 Shipment Arrival [DISCHARGED] 20JUL2006 New York, NY

Although if it's scheduled to be completed on 7/13, it is possible it might make the Courage on 7/15. Mine arrived at the docks early this morning (7/11 1:33 local time) and it made the Trinidad (just left 23:00 local time).

Keep us posted! We're all in this together.

Thanks Gromit & Crishchun - I don't have much in the way of factory installed options - just the cold weather & premium packages along with silver mirror caps & a center armrest. I can't wait for the next few weeks to be over. Work is crazy busy through the end of July and getting my little green racer is going to be my reward for making it through.

I don't know if the options take that much extra time, but each car has to be checked, wrapped, and then shipped to Southampton to get in line for the ship headed to the correct coast.

How do you know your car's name before you meet it? Still trying to figure mine out.

Monday I was told my blue baby was in the paint shop, with a scheduled birthday of today (today!), so here's hoping it's the Courage for me! Hyper blue manual transmission S with white roof, mirror caps and bonnet stripes...any name ideas?

The best I can come up with so far is Bluezebub--Bub for short. Lame, I know. (Gromit, no doubt you caught the X-Men reference. I'm a bit obsessed with Wolverine)

For me it was easy - my last name is green, my mini is going to be BRG, and I plan on zooming around quite a bit. Green Racer just seems to fit.

I just called ASK MINI and my baby is in the paint shop too! Also scheduled for completion today. I never can get a straight answer from them about how long it'll take to get onto a ship but I'm still holding out hope that it'll get onto the Courage.

That sounds like a perfectly good Mini name!

For those of us on the west coast, finding out which ship is kind of a pain, since it might not be the same shipper that sails the Atlantic routes.
