HI,
New to this list but a long time Mini dreamer--always wanted one in the '60's-but did get one of the first MINI "S's' in the Phila area. Tweaked a few things, clutch, flywheel, quaife, coil overs, blower pulley, air filter, and exhaust, then came the cage and the numbers for the door!
Ran the Pittsburgh Vintage GP with it in the special Mini-MINI race, had the pole, but this time youth and skill won the race--younger driver that is--in an original Mini. Me? I tapped the curbing--not reccommended! and Dan Racine blew the belt on lap 3, all that was left were 'old Mini's' with yourger drivers--like 16 of them. That was one fun race meet--win lose or whatever. Oh, and by the way, they picutured a red/white new MINI on the famous PVGP poster--just like my car!
My son also had one, and we both drove them in BMW-CCA CR at VIR, in 2004, if you haven't been there you should go do a drivers school or race there--it is really a great track.
Then the Brits attacked again! Announced that there would be topless motoring in a MINI soon. ordered it, traded the 'racer' and now, a year later have started to add a few things to it --does it ever stop?
Saw the note about the Dragons Tail, I was there, just last week with a group of about 50 old cars--we did it slowly--like 20mph or so--and the whole time I kept telling my wife that I wanted my MINI.
Presently looking for a MINI '05-'06 trans that is out of the car--I want to adapt the 6 speed to my other (was 4 sp) BMW racer a '68 2002. Anyone have one sitting around that is for sale?
