Congrats Minitee. I look forward to pics.

As for me, I work from home on Tuesdays, which means I'm yet to motor today. Argh! Good thing the wife and I have somewhere to go this evening or I'd just have to find some other excus, I mean errand to run.

Checking in

Hey gang, haven't piped up in a while, but I've been following along and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks for being such a lively production week, glad I could watch along on all the fun and see the Centaurus Leader pics and everything!

Just got the word from my MA that the car arrived today, two days before the original estimated delivery date, one day after the revised estimated delivery date on the OL. Having quite a few things installed, so probably won't be picking him up until next week, but a part of me is really hoping I'll be out motoring this weekend! I've been without my own car since mid-March when I totalled my truck going up to go snowboarding. I'd always had my eye on a Mini and after driving one I knew it was meant to be, and I'd just have to deal with 3 months of no vehicle to get him just the way I want.

I'll post some pics just as soon as I am united with my car, but like a lot of you I'm tempted to go down to the dealership early and just give him a big old hug. Anyway, thanks again for the fun thread everyone!

You wont have to come over here. I just spent 2 hours washing and polishing His Royal Highness. Doug- Just wait till you Zaino your baby! WOWW! Talk about slick, both looking and feeling! I also just took a ton of pictures and will try to get some up tonight.

I'm looking forward to it. How many coats did you put on? I'm guessing by the amount of time, a single coat of Z-2? I'm thinking I'm gonna try for one Z-5 (just in case there are any minor surface imperfections) and two Z-2.

My todo list for the weekend:
  1. Wash and Detail new car
  2. Wash and Detail minivan
  3. Wash house windows. Inside and out.
However, I will not Zaino the house windows.

I did one of Z-5 and one of Z-2. I wanted to do another of Z-2 but I ran out of time. He still looks fantastic though! (as you will see in the next post...)

Hey Andy, you need to change you sig from 'On Order' to 'Arrived!'
So only 2 hours today, how many hours do you plan for the weekend?

How much did your dealership charge for the driving lights? My dealer wants almost $1200 for parts and labor!?

121 miles as of last night. Too much work, not enough motoring.

Just rolled 300 miles during my motoring to work this morning. Also, she was getting thirsty so she got her first refill: about 12 gallons. A few other random observations:
  • I really dislike bugs that commit hari kari on my windshield. A kind word to all my flying, six legged friends: Please choose a different method of suicide, or at least find someone else's windshield.
  • When putting the key in the ignition, I prefer to do so with the MINI logo facing down. That way, when the car is started, the MINI logo is facing me.
  • The seat heaters really work. Motored top down this morning, so I was wearing a light windbreaker and had the heater and seats on. My backside was quite toasty. And I was using the low setting. My wife is gonna love these since her idea of tepid is about when I start thinking Chernobyl.
  • The drive over Pigeon Pass (Hwy 84 in Livermore, CA) followed by a jaunt up Pleasanton Sunol Rd is a very nice drive. A few good twisties, and lots of beautiful vistas. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.135956&om=1
Checked the shipping status on all my detailing supplies, and they are all due to my house tomorrow. I will be all prepared for the weekend.

I remeber driving home and seeing the first bug hit about 2 miles from the dealer, and in my mind I screamed...Then it just went down hill. I never thought about the key thing, I will have to pay more attention now. I Havent had a chance to try the heated seats and probably wont until we hit october now. Oh well, thats something else to look forward to down the road.

I hope you weren't drooling over the bug splats on my windshield! Although, I do think they'd be high in protein.

ROFL . You guys are killin' me!! You gotta remember English is my second language, I have no first!

No, I found myself visualizing what you were describing. I think I have an old sitcom remake running through my head. 'Lost In Mini'

I'm driving to central Oregon Friday and have spent quite a bit of time finding the best MINI route.

Fear Factor horror, No MINI for 21 hours .
