R99 and OEM wheels

i hope this is the right place...

well my new mini should be ready to pick up this weekend, but i may have a small issue, emphasis may.

i wanted the R99 wheels, but was quite surprised to see that my dealership wanted $2000+ for the wheels and tires. so i asked my MA if i needed to buy the wheels and tires or could i just buy the wheels and supply my own tires. he said "no prob". so then i got around to thinking, well what if i just upgrade to the OEM 17" wheels could i just use those tires. again he said "no prob". well today i asked about that again and he said he'd have to check. now the only reason i upgraded to the OEM 17" was it ended up being cheaper than buying the R99 tire+wheel package.

so
1) will the OEM 17" performance runflats work with the R99s?
2) if they don't does anyone have any suggestions for raising the issue of paying extra for the OEM wheels/tires that i didn't need?

$2000 is pretty expensive for wheels and tires when coupled with a set of useless $700 wheels and tires $2700 is just way too much. i can't really justify nearly 10% of the vehicle cost for wheels.

1) Yes, but they are pure evil.

I would not pay for the wheel upgrade and just go with a set of good conventional performance tires. You can find a lot of choices for ~$100 each.

when i hear you guys go on about upgraded exhaust, shocks, wheel weight and that sort of thing... well it's all greek to me.

I had my dealer move the 17" All-season runflats to the R99s for a total of $1055. But I also bought alot of other stuff.
You really need to work them down on the price...

I believe that the R99's are $999.00 for the set plus tires.

I just had the silver R99's put on and they look amazing.

I think they look correct for the car.

Good luck.

Just bought a set of mint polished R99's on eBay to go on my 08 MCS AB/AB. Can I just unbolt the crown spoke wheels that is coming on my mini and use the stock lugs to mount my R99's? I hope it is that simple.

I believe you'll also need to move the tpms active pressure sensors from your old wheels to the new wheels, unless they are included in the new wheels. Or drive with the tire pressure warning light on.
