What was the hardest decision when ordering your MINI?

For me it is deciding which color I should get. I have pretty much decided on everything else. I keep changing my mind on the color. My wife thinks I am nuts.

Pulling the trigger at all....

but I couldn't get the color I wanted when I ordered (dark blue, wasn't available on an S in 02!) and that screwed the blue/black leather. I went to CR, and the dealer chose the color of the leather when he did the order!

But on pulling the trigger, you all will love this. I'd been pouring over new Mini stuff, and one day, my wife saw me, yet again, on the web, and she wisperd in my ear "just get the fu**ing car" and as she walked away... "and get the fast one, I don't want to hear you bit*h about it later!"

And that was that!

Matt

Color I was good on (IB). I suppose for me it was the age old Cooper/MCS question. I was planning on an MCS, but my drive in a Cooper sold me without question. It's a personal thing.

I almost didn't get the xenon headlights until I saw them in action and changed my order the next day. For some insane reason, I ordered the silver dash like the cooper, but the dealer screwed up and I got the alloy patina. I am glad it worked out that way. I like the alloy look better.

Oh, definitely the color! The first time I went to the MINIUSA.com site, on Christmas Day, 2001, I fell in love immediately....with the Liquid Yellow/Black! Then, I really wanted BRG/W. I ordered an all-Pure Silver Cooper, which I took delivery of in August, 2002!

Get this....when the MCS came in black, in the new 2003 models, I HAD TO HAVE ONE! Put in my order for my Wicked Wanda, all-Jet Black, and I have just LOVED her.

The MC or the MCS. My wife went with me when I test drove both. She said buy the S. I don't ususally argue with her.

Color! I wanted my 05 to be Electric Blue/EB but my MA threw a hissy fit until I changed it to Hyper Blue... He didnt like the color and didnt want to let me order one....

The second time around the color was easy- BOTH of them The hardest part then was waiting...

Good luck and happy waiting!

PS- body color roofs are best

...and they call YOU obnoxious?

Anyway, the only colors that appealed to me, Solar Red and the old Velvet, were n/a. So I opted for black. A bear to keep clean, especially in winter, but I can live with it.

I decided on the prem/pkg, mainly for the sunroof, not so much for me but for resale.

Whether or not to spring for the factory JCW. I would have had it been available without the Sport Package. If it had been available without it, I would have ticked four options and that would have been it. JCW, Xenons, Chrono, Chrome interior.

There is a really good description. I felt the same way. Fall in love with one, then another, then another - then you realize you love them all. For me it was PW, PH, BRG and EB. I ended up getting EB and I have no regrets. But I wouldn't mind having one of each.

I've never agonized over my spec.

The first time I just walked in to the dealer.. briefly considered IB/W and CR/W.. then when we sat down at the computer said 'yes, no, yes, yes, yes, yes, no, no, yes, no, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes...' as my MA ran down the option list. No agonizing. No worrying. Just did it and MINI was perfect when it arrived.

Second MINI was used and specc'd almost exactly how I would have done it myself.

My new 2006 MCS was simple. I'd built 1000 online and they always ended up the same. I agonized over the seats but thats only because the ones I wanted (space cloth) weren't available. Otherwise, it was very simple to order.

Upholstery. I was ordering SB/S, the question was 'safe' with Space Grey cloth or 'out there' with the tartan. I went 'safe', and I may get a set of Wet Okoles so I can be 'out there'.

Color, Options......deciding what features I could get without going overboard & which ones I would actually use.

For months, I would go on the build website and make a new one for the day. I still have a file of about 30 choices I printed out and thought through. Finally, my order time came up, and was sure of my selections. So far, no regrets.

My wife is on the verge of doing the same to me. I'm trying to hold out for an '07 but we're gonna need another car before then.

Not considering the S so color is my biggest hangup. No cloth interior option now is pushing me to get a checkmate which pushes me to change the color. Either with PW/B or HB/S Checkmate but also like BRG/W. Arrgh!

My decisions came down to whether to get the dealer-installed satellite radio (no). That was probably the hardest choice. I thought about getting the leather seats, but didn't think they were really worth that much extra $$$. I settled on the exterior color right away, that was actually quite easy. The interior color was a bit of a debate, but I think the grey/black leatherette was a good choice as was the anthracite dash.

For me the only hard decision was to get or not to get the auto-dimming mirror & the auto winshield wipers. I didn't want the wipers because I had read so much about how easily MINI windshields crack so I opted to leave that package off because they would not let me get the auto-dimm mirror as a stand alone option but alas you can now purchase the mirror by itself.
