Problems with my stop light

I have a 2003 MINI and this is the first time that my right stop light on back of the car is off. I took the 3 lights assembly out and the only light that isn't working is the stop one. I changed the bulb, but still doesn't work...Please help.
Thanks
Also the right HG mercury bulb is broken. Where can I purchase a new one but not too expensive please

On an 03, the top bulb is not a brake light, but a fog light. Unless the car was retorfitted with the rear fog kit, that light should never come on. That's the MINI gospel. There is a large number of 02, 03 and 04 MINIs with what is known as "the brake light mod". This is where you add a jumper of some kind between pins 1 and 4 of the plug on the circuit board, which makes the top bulb come on with the lower brake light. For better instructions, do a search on "brake light mod". There must be 50 threads and 1000 posts about it.
