Body colored dash (in Chili Red)?

This is probably an odd question, but I've found 2 MCSC's in inventory or on the way that are almost exactly what I want, with one difference. One has the body colored dash (the other is anthracite). In Chili Red, that seems awfully bright. I'd much prefer the anthracite. The dealer that has it says that they could change the dash out, but I assume that would still leave the door inserts Chili Red (which would give me a unique combination. . .) The dealer is a couple hours away, so it's not especially convenient to go see for myself, and I'd still like to hear from someone who owns one.

Does anyone out there have a Chili Red MC with body colored dash? Comments?

Decisions, decisions!!

Thanks.

we both love it. It seems bright at first, then, it just seems right. I liked it so much, i paid extra on my 06 to get the body matched dash

Go red

We've got the CR dash and love it. I recommend the chrome line interior with it (I know, brighter) but it is one of the most appreciated charachteristics of our MINI. We have a friend that chromed his dash - now that's bright

One of my favorite things--the CR dash and door doodads. Definitely chrome stuff. Lots of compliments. Truly not boring. Enjoy.

I'm with Slate. If you go for the red dash, definetly get the chrome interior. It looks great. I get more comments about our CR/Chrome interior that anything else about the car.

We have the CR dash in our CR MCC and loved it so much that when I ordered my JB/W MCS last year I also purchased the Red dash and door panels for it. I tied it all together with red/black/white graphics on the boot, bonnet and roof.
I need to sell my anthracite dash and door panels one of these days

I have a CR dash & chromed interior. The interior chili red is one of the biggest compliment getters on my Mini

Get the anthracite. . .you don't want to end up like these other happy motorers!

but seriously, I really like the way the body color interior parts look on the convertibles. It ties everything together so well when the top is down.

Anthracite is the way

My Chili Red 2006 MCC has the anthracite dash/interior. I debated what to do while ordering. And have been extremely pleased with the anthracite. The chili red exterior is loud enough. Having a quiet dash is a nice complement.

Once you go Red you can never go Back !

There no substitute...

I have and love the red interior on my 05. The dealer could swap out the door panels if you decide to "take it down a notch".

It is not too bright, just one of the thoughts one has when thinking about just the dash...

Good Luck and have fun!

Dumb question: is the body-colored dash only available on the convertibles? Don't believe I've seen it otherwise.

The CR with chromeline really gives the interior a nice kick, especially with the red cloth/ black leather seats. I also installed the chrome downtubes and toggle rings. Some might say too bright, but I say it's just right.

There's an interior shot in my gallery.

Yes you can get body-colored dash on a hardtop but I think the only colors available are chili red & blue

The park lane dash option is Royal Grey.

Need Chrome Dash doo dads!

I have a have a CR dash and door inserts on my 06 MCS and like everyone has said, it's a real attention getter! People that look in my car love it and so do I...it's not too bright. However, I screwed up and didn't order the chrome trim interior trim kit. I've considered getting aftermarket chrome but can't find a set that accomodates the chrono package and the multifunction steering wheel pieces. Any ideas?

what are the seats like? i prefer the body color dash with the solid black seats (personal taste of course). i didn't go for it since i liked the lapis seats and it was too much for me with the dash and doors hyper blue. i'm very happy with the anthracite w/chromeline.

MINI sells a chromeline retrofit kit (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...79&hg=51&fg=95). You can get it from your dealer or contact Classic MINI for a discount price (e-mail: bmwparts@classicautocampus.com). Not shown on that diagram (I don't know if included in the kit), MINI also sells separate chrome trim rings for the tach or speedo/tach over the steering wheel (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...21&hg=62&fg=05).

Regarding the dealer swapping out the dash, I presume he will also swap out the "door cards" (as they're called--the door panel with the loop is all one piece).

As for the Chromeline retrofit, see this link--I just posted there:

I know...

..very very red. But I never had a purely toy car before so I just had fun with it. It's not my only ride so I felt it could be a bit louder.

To answer your question those are Wet Okole seat covers. You could not get read and black seats of any type in the convertible. An the Tartan red seat covers weren't anything like the red in the car. So I went with these. They're a very tailored fit an no one thinks they're seat covers. Added bonus is they are neoprene. They don't get hot in the sun or too cold in winter. Holes in sides for air bags and the eseat heaters work just as well as the did with the seat bare.

I will trade you all the interior red parts for the anthracite ones if you like however there is the installation and shipping question to deal with.

Obviously, which dash color is best is a matter of opinion. I can say I have a Chili Red hardtop MINI with the sunroof and I chose the matching dash, etc. It is not too bright (again, opinion), but since I have the hardtop, I don't get a lot of direct sun reflection. Either way, enjoy your MINI.

Thanks for all the responses. I really started leaning towards the red dash. However, since I'm trying to find something quickly, D&R found one with the anthracite dash that's on the boat now, I'm just waiting for final confirmation that it's mine. But if I can't get that one, I'll probably go for the one with the red dash and not change it out. I was getting an estimate of about $150 to change it.
