dwf,

I too am waiting DON CARLOS to come to the west coast. My MINI went into production on the 17th and I hope that it completes in time for the DON CARLOS departure.

BTW, how did you figure out the ship that you MINI might possibly be on? Is there site I can go to?

Thanks,

Shane

I just did the search for South Hampton to Port H on the WW site and found the DON CARLOS as the most likely ship. So I'm willing it, nothing more.

I just saw on the WW site today that my MINI has been loaded aboard the Elektra and is waiting for her big voyage West. Man, it is wonderful to have this tracking system but sometimes it stokes my anxiety as I wait on every little bit of progress reported out....

"Oh goody, she is now at the port"....."Guess what, they loaded her on the ship"...."Now they are passing out the sea sickness bags"

I gotta get a life....

Bill

Bill,
I can relate - I was accused of having obsessive compulsive disorder. I check status and this forum for news WAY too much.

Hey guys.. I have a question. I was checking my Order Specs in the Owners Lounge and noticed that it mentioned all my options but DID NOT list my upholstery choice. After the whole Space Cloth confusion and changing to Gray leatherette, I'm slightly worried. If anyone can check their specs, do they list your interior choice??

Yes, above the box listing all your factory options are three lines - mine reads -
  • Model Description - Cooper S Convertible
  • Exterior Description - CHILI RED
  • Interior Description - Black Leather
I would check with your MA SOON - it may still be possible to make a change if the car has not reached final assembly. Worst case, they might be able to do an expedited re-order if the order got Borked somehow.

Good luck -

Bill

Stefanie,
I would check on this but I queried my MA as soon as I saw my car vehicle description on the site. Like you, I ordered with cloth but it had to be changed. I specified the gray/black leatherette as the replacement. I too was concerned when no seat description showed up but my MA assured me that it is properly ordered (she better be right, I'm not too thrilled about leatherette period and I do not want ALL black). I was also told that the default for anyone with gray spacecloth would be the gray/black leatherette although this could be typical sales BS.

Whew! That sets me somewhat at ease. I opted for the Gray/black leatherette too. Thanks for the reply. To say I've been in a panic would be an understatement....

Omar - no, I dont know how to translate them. I think theres a FAQ about it on MINI2 though.

Call ASK MINI first thing tomorrow to clarify. Not all the data makes it to the OL. But sometimes it's your MA's fault. And only your MA/dealer can make the change. But 3 minutes with ASK MINI may ease your mind.

We are scheduled for completion on the 25th. How long until they get on a boat after that usually??

I'm thinking our Cooper S will be on one of the ships listed above

Another parallel thread on this topic -

From my recent experience, which may not be typical, it turned out that the quoted date for "completion" turned out to be the day that the car rolled onto the ship in Southampton. Now, they may have been early - or maybe they define loading as "completion".

I found the MINI Owner's Lounge website to be VERY dated in updates (3-4 days) and the ASK MINI status slightly dated. Surprisingly, the most frequent updates in status were from the WW tracking service at their website. Once they take ownership of the car at the port, they keep you notified pretty quickly on developments.

Bill,
Hope your guess about the completion date being the date that the Mini is on board the ship is correct as my completion date of 1/27 lines up with the departure date of the Liberty. That would put it rolling into Newark on 2/5. That kind of lines up with my MA telling me yesterday that we were looking good for early February. You will have to keep us informed on how long it takes your Mini to get from Newark to Princeton.

Bill - thanks for keeping us up to date on all this info. Its definately helping me figure out whats going on.

Do you guys think a car headed to Ohio would come from New York or Charleston? The Liberty is leaving 1/27 and stopping in New York then continuing along to SC. The Boheme is leaving 1/31 and going to New York. I wonder which I'll be on....

hmmm... So it seems that the boats that leave from Southhampton make a stop in Newark, then in South Carolina. Thats why it takes 14 days for them to make it to S.C.

Larkin,
Use this link http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...countryList.do
to check on ship schedules. Once the search results are displayed, click on one of the Voyages listed under the Voyage column and you will see all of the ports that the ship stops at. They stop at NY (Newark), Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Charleston. I clicked on EB604-LIB for the details on the Liberty.

I too have a VIN, now it gets excting! Initally the interior description was on the website under the "Review Order Details". I changed to leather with my MA and the interior details fell off the website. I called and was assured everyting was fine and I would be getting the correct interior. When in doubt call! Everyone I've talked to have been very helpful and reassuring!
