Hi all!

Just ordered my MCS RG/S on Sunday. Should have my production number in 6 months. AHHHH, THE AGONY! But this is a necessity since by the time that it comes in, the SUV should be paid off so we afford the MINI. Always a good thing!

Ever since ordering my beautiful guy, I have been reading so much about MINIs I can already tell its going to be a long wait. My partner is already sick of hearing about it:

me: "Hey, Look at this one! Isn't it cool?!"

him: "I am MINI'd out today."

me stuttering: "But....but....but...but..." *SIGH*

and so it will be for like the next 10 months.

Yes that it will. Don't worry the wait goes pretty fast if you are able to distract yourself.

Congrats on the MINI and good choice with BRG!

heh, yes it is

And its not BRG its RG...ROYAL GREY! No offense of course.

My current dillema is deciding to go with the chrome line interior on the Park Lane dash, or just stick with the standard. I am totally agonizing over this.

AndyWSea,

Welcome to NAM

Production number in six months???????? WOW it did not take me that long from order date to delivery date back in 03. Maybe things have changed but that seems like a long time to me.

Where are you located. ??

Earl

I am in Seattle, so we only have the one dealer for the entire state. It all works out though, since its going give us time to pay off the other car. It has been a 10 month wait or so since I have been talking to my MA earlier this year.

6 months is a crazy wait.

Mine is 2 months and it's driving me nuts!

You are a very patient person!

Holy C$#P! That's a hell of a wait.

If you really want the car that badly, why wouldn't you order from out of state and go pick it up? Did they make you put down a deposit on a car you're not going to even get an order number on in 6 months? If so that's just a free loan to your MINI dealer.

I can sort of understand wanting to have the SUV paid off, but after that long of a wait will you still want the car as badly? Or will the anticipation wear down to an anti-climatic delivery? Don't get me wrong, I love my MINI, but after waiting so long for it, it couldn't possibly hold up to your expectations.

I guess I waited for a while to buy the car, but I was shopping around for other things as well. Once I decided that the MINI was it, I ordered right away and had the car in less then 2 months. Six months would have killed me.

I have been wanting this car for years now, so I dont think that waiting 10 months to get it will kill me or diminish my excitement for the car. I have known for a while that it was going to take a long time to get it from ordering to delivery, so I am ok with it.

Andy - did you take a look at ordering your MINI from a dealership like MINI of the Hamptons, Classic MINI, Dreyer & Reinbold, or MINI of Pittsburgh? Many of these dealers have MUCH earlier build slots and can ship you the exact build you want for $500.00 or less directly to your door. Many times they may even have exactly what you want in their showroom. None of these charge anything over MSRP so its a pretty good deal if you don't want to wait 10 months. If you did decide to go this way your local dealership should refund your deposit with no questions.

If you are interested look at the Vendor Directory for information on how to contact these dealerships. You might also want to search the site for other impressions of these dealers.

Hope this helps

Mark

Thanks Mark!

I am really OK with this. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get it sooner, but financially, it just works out so much better this way.

Andy,

We might have to start a thread just for you, tracking your agony, and regular updates like:

"Week 15: Nope, still no build number"
"Week 21: Nope, not yet"
"Week 25: uhhh, nope"
"Week 36: Can't take it any more!"
"Week 39: Considering violent action..."
"Week 42: Bring me the MINI and no body gets hurt!"
"Week 43: (From the mental institution) My MINI has arrived, I can see it from my window in the parking lot. My Doctors say that in a few months I might be allowed to touch it, hee, hee, hee."

Perhaps we could start a betting pool on when your car will actually arrive? Just to torture you for the next 8 months.

That's awful!

I agree if you've already wanted it for years, you can stand to wait 10 more months for it... i waited years, but when i realized i could buy one, i bought off the lot

Good luck on the wait time... i know it'll be worth the wait and anticipation.

isn't the factory closing to retool for the '07s sometime next summer? You might have to wait longer if the factory shuts down...
