I live in the ***** area too. Placed my order for a CR/CR MSC on September 8th. Hoping to get it in mid-November. Have not found out my production week yet. I also have a 03 Honda for sale (Civic instead of Accord). Very small world indeed. Maybe we'll have a 3 MINI convoy from Indy.

 

We need to start our oun MINI club here, three MINIs in the same week of production in the same area. Has anyone seen their options show up in OL? Dose this happen after you get a VIN?

Your VIN should show up once you get "scheduled for production" and at that point your full options list should be available (as memory serves from when I did this before).

I haven't named my current MINI. My first car though I always referred to as the "lil green Saturn" (aw if you can't laugh at yourself). It had a bike rack on it and right around that time chevron came out with a toy that looked a lot like it.

 

Just checked the OL and I now have my VIN!

No options showing up yet, though.

Bummer! I decided to call the ASKMINI line instead of Owner's Lounge and got some unexpected news. The good news is my production is confirmed for the week of October 17, the bad news is that makes it Week 42 instead of 40. I could have sworn the dealer told me 40 although it is entirely possible that I misunderstood. Oh well, my M3 will have wait a little longer for its little brother to join it in the garage.

 

No VIN or options showing online for me as well -- still says "on order" with only the model, color, and interior (MCS Space Blue w/ cloth).

In regards to your earlier question DiD, I did not receive the delivery estimate from John Angel, but from the sales person assigned to me.

 

I would ask John then. I would be willing to bet that his duration is a lot closer to the one I gave you and the one MINIUSA gave you than your salesperson's estimate. :smile:

 

Just spoke with John. He said it can really vary and was a bit reticent to provide a firm estimate, but said his best guess was last week in Nov or first week in Dec...

 

Checked OL this morning and the only thing I have is the car and interior colors. No VIN or options, Neo and I ordered at the same time with the same dealer. However our deposit didn't get to him untill Tues, we don't carry check books any more, had to FedEx a check on Monday, so maybe thats the difference.

Did you call 866-ask-mini and talk to a person, that's how I got the production week.

 

I talked to Ask MINI this morning and got confirmation that I am scheduled for week 40.

 

Checked the OL this morning, and still no VIN or options. Called Ask MINI, the guy said it could be in production now ( I don't think so ), oh well. It is just that neo and I ordered at the same time and he has his VIN. Picture a guy lying on the floor kicking and crying " But neo has his, I want my VIN, I want my options". Now you have an idea what it's like around here. How about you DRB4381, have you seen your VIN yet?

I was reluctant at first to give my yet-to-be-born MCS a name, but am starting to have a change of heart and am leaning toward Zephyr (Greek god of the west wind)...

The reasoning is that I live in (and love) the West, and the car is space blue/silver, which has a certain airy quality to it -- plus I just like the sound of Zephyr.

Any other names? (KDO saw that you have already asked this, and that yours is Lydia and Neorants' is Trinity)

 

Plus there is some direct Denver/Colorado history behind that name in the Denver Zephyr's AAA baseball team (between the Denver Bears and the Colorado Rockies).

There were also some trains that departed Denver's Union Station that went by the Zephyr name.

 

I might have to adapt that baseball logo into some kind of custom number plate for my Mini! DiD you could then take some photos of it to add to your portfolio...

The image of the trains is also outstanding -- where did you find that?

 

I'll be back in the Denver area for Christmas and planning on bringing my camera.

The Trains: I found that with a Google Image Search for Denver Zephyrs, although I just found that you'll come across a lot more images if you drop the s in zephyrs in your image search

BTW, for those that don't know DiD = Dave in Denver. Back in late 2001 I started posting on another forum as Dave, but soon others started posting under the same name, so having a few moments of near zero creativity, I started posting as Dave in Denver (which is where I grew up and lived at the time). When I came over to NAM, people started shortening it to DiD. Then I moved to Los Angeles, and Dave in Denver didn't seem like an appropriate name and longer, but I liked DiD and the meaning behind it, so I changed my username to that.

As for a name, I don't have one yet for my Solar Red MINI just yet, but I do think it's something I'll do this time around.
