changed mind - got something else-

Well all after months of trying to get a mini I siad forget it, not only does Motor city mini fail, but that fact that they have a total corner on the market is stupid... car is not worth 25 for the stuff I wanted. So I decided since I already have a mini which will be faster and more nimble than I could ever make the new version without going broke (74' cooper body, fully custom motor with 300+bhp)

I went for a Mercury Marauder.
Mercury Marauder running 600bhp. Hand built 5.0L Mustang Cobra block, Paxton Novi 1000 supercharger@14 psi, 42lb injectors, air/air intercooler, custom fuel rails, custom exhaust, freeflow cats+cans, Stallion triple plate torque converter 3000rpm lock up(a little rough might get that re tuned), custom 19"x9 rims, Toyo proxi 255/40/R19 tires.

So ya I'll brob still surf around here cuz my buddy is still gettin the mini, and seeing the ordeals he has gone through with the dealer I can tell I made the right choice, I am of the opinion that I am the one spending the money, I am not being done a favor by buying this car. But yes all is well, the mini is a sweet ride, I just don't care to be taken for a ride

Did you happen to have your '74 Mini at the Mad Dogs & Englishmen show today? There was an impressive showing of classic-Mini's!

Sorry your dealer experience was so bad...if that'd happened to me I'd have second thoughts, too. Although there are other dealers around from whom one can buy a MINI (lots of people do) it sounds like you're going to definitely get your Mini fix via your classic, which is awesome. As much as we love our MINIs I don't know an owner who wouldn't love to take a spin on one o' those little darlin's. Classic Minis are the best!!! (...if you can do w/o aircon and the safety bits.)

I went for a Mercury Marauder.
Do you also call girls who you feel are not right for you, and describe in details what the "replacement" girl looks like and how she is in bed.
Congrats on your new toy though.

I lost track of the recent changes Ford made to the Marauder, but when it was first introduced, the chief complaint I read in most reviews of the car was the lack of low end torque for a supposedly "Muscle" car with a V8 engine.

Personally, if you are going after V-8, RWD American iron, there are much better choices to be had than the Marauder:

Chrysler 300C SRT8:

Dodge Magnum R/T:

Dodge Charger (Sedan) R/T:

Ford Mustang GT:

Pontiac GTO:

All of the above are cars with much better road manners than the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Marauder sedans, better safety, better engineering and looks that are light years ahead of Ford's RWD full size sedan.

The basic Frame-on-Chassis architecture of the Marauder and its "lesser" corporate siblings, dates all the way back to the year 1977. Hardly, new technology.

I think Ford should adapt the new Mustang's chassis as a basis of the next generation Marauder, oh but wait... I think that car already exists and it is called the Lincoln LS!

Here is the current Mercury Marauder:

A few years ago, an aftermarket conversion company came out with a convertible version of the car. I have no idea if this concept made it to market or not:

That's nice on a straight line, but how about the twisties?

I think the Marauder was a good idea, but too bad it was based on such an old design. Unfortunately I agree...just a dressed up Crown Vic.

Back in '01-'02 when the Marauder was first introduced, the car was believed to be the "true" spiritual successor to the highly sought after '94-'96 Chevy Impala SS, but the car had glaring shortcomings that prevented it from gaining the following and collectible status that the 1990's Impala SS had.

It seems that Ford improved the Marauder, but unfortunately, the car became mostly irrelevant when Daimler-Chrysler released the 300 sedan and Magnum station wagons and more so even when Ford released the 2005 Mustang.

I am sure Mercury dealers must be passing out hefty discounts/rebates on Marauders.

Nice ... Nothing like being pushed back in the seat from the torque of a V8......
Enjoy!

Yeah but then again it is likely Mercury dealers are giving hefty discounts on Marauders. Still, with the better choices outthere in the realm of V-8, RWD, Full size American iron, why would anyone give the Marauder a second look?

Correction: Top Banana. Go ManGo! is the orange.......

You can get an R/T with the Road and Track package which adds all of the Daytona Package go fast and suspension bits without the decals and retina searing colors.
