So paying 25K for a car that invoices at 18k was a stupid move to me, cuz I don't have that kind of turn around on my car, like I said my other mini is a 74' so a high resale value does me no good. so to me paying 7k over invoice is silly. Just not worth it at all, I'll pay 20k under sticker anyday.
Why do you think Ford has to blow out the prices on their cars? Nobody is willing to fork over the money for them. Just the opposite situation for the Mini.
The build quality of the mini is light years above what ford can produce.
You want quality or quantity? I guess your choice was obvious.
While I appreciate American muscle, the build quality and design leaves much to be desired. Don't confuse going fast with handling , poise and balance.
The fuel economy on that Marauder must be great!
Personally, My pick would still have been a Chrysler 300C SRT-8.
R.R. Suki: Word of advice---> Don't come here dissing the MINI. You are not going to get any sympathy votes from anyone here. Remember: This is a MINI enthusiast website, not a Marauder message board.
As much as I love the Classic Minis, it is ridiculous to even begin to compare a car whose basic design dates back to the late 1950's to car that employs the latest safety, engineering and build quality technologies.
Classic Minis are mostly hobby/weekend cars. Owners that I know don't even like to drive them in the rain and most lack air conditioning or creature comforts.
It is obvious for you brutal power and torque is more important to you than road manners, handling and ability to take the curves. Nothing wrong with that, I am simply stating the difference in preferences.

lol the banter of mear fan boys, actually my classic will out handle most cars. If you are running a stock classic with 10" rims and the plasic tires that accompany it, sure you'll have trouble. when you have truely learned to drive cars you will realize that you can make any car do just about anything you like. Your car become an extention of your will and your ability. So speak as you wish my ability and my stable speaks for itself. If you would read my first post you will see that I said nothing bad about the mini, only bad I had to state was the way in which it is sold. It wasn't until people started attacks for no reason that I spoke my mind. Speaking of build quality is a joke, mass produced cars will always have issues, no matter the build, some companies are just better at not running recalls. Like I said my 25k was better spent. And before you compare the new to classic mini... look at the run between the new mini works cooper and a classic cooper where the cooper cuts into the corner bolts away and then has a hose jump off... the new mini vs. the old mini stock for stock sure, but seeing as my mini hasn't been stock since 75... a mull issue... so then here comes the question... buy a new mini which I couldn't make as nimble or as fast as my old without going broke... or get a straight line monster which I can enjoy more on michigans N,S,E,W roads... yes I see now how the mini would be a good choice. AS I have said again and again, read my first post I didn't come in here attacking anyone. if you think your mini can out run mine then surely put it to the test, I'll even pay to have it shipped to jamaica and we can have a go at it on the mountain track, or the circuit. My address is B231 Emmons Hall, East Lansing MI. Send me a note and the wheels can go a turning. I have nothing to lose or prove, but clearly you are offended by me not purchasing an over priced car... Take it from a man who has had a mini living in his living room, I know what a mini is, you're just along for the ride

Hey don't knock it til you try it - I have a relative who has a couple award winning show-cars. Ben Gay is ALL he uses to condition his interiors and he swears by the stuff (could have something to do with him being 92). As for me (I'm too easy to please, I know), the smell of just-treated leather interior is very "auto-erotic" pun completely intended.
In any event, I doubt the new Marauder requires any air-freshener. I did read in the recent Sunday edition of Chicago Tribune that the Marauder didn't sell very well. The word Jim Mateja used was "failure" but then he was talking about sales numbers so rock on...
I can't speak for everyone, but I AM interested in "I changed my mind" threads.
With all the usual respect,

I think that's exceptional, and I can tell you'll be checking out the limits of new Marauder.
I also think, however misguided I may be, that my 2005 MCS is a decent value for the money, but I'd just as soon not debate that with you since I know you don't agree.
I really liked what you said about the car being an extension of driver will and ability. You have a realistic attitude, under no illusions, about mass production vs. build quality too.
Parting advice: Keep your car cleaning stuff separate from your hygiene stuff. Trust Me you do NOT want to accidentally put Ben Gay on your TOOTHBRUSH (ouch! but that's another story
).Have fun and don't speed,

I appreciate your words, and indeed I don't really worry about people who like to throw insults, and also the mini is not a bad value on it's own, but when options were presented, I get a what I felt was a better deal, based on already having a mini and living where twisties are hard to find, even on my bike. again from the first post the mini is a nice car, but this my production car is better than your production car thing is silly to me. there are 1900 fords drivin around... there are perfect 96 bmws and there are ones that are rotting out... it's all in the owner putting himself into the car.. the production line cannot breath life into your car... only you can. Heck I have a 96 cougar as my daily driver 120 000 mi and it drives like new, and I have seen the same car falling apart. mass produced cars can only live or die by your love.
oh and here's a couple pics of my honey in her street clothes

amen bro
Dude the love (and the cash too) that you put into that mini is massively evident
.
Speaking of Cougars, it might be just "me" but - were those "telescoping" turn signals on the 70's Cougars flat out coool, or what! That was "bling" before bling was even a word! blink-blink-blink-blink-blink, from the inside to the edge... that was the shyte.
The street where I "grew up" (shhh), circa 1972 or thereabouts, there was a Cougar that lived in the house down on the corner. One of the metallic green jobs, you know the color, with the dark green vinyl (?) roof. In stock form, no surgery/mods, it was just a gorgeous car. The guy kept it nice and clean, never dusty. Even us troublemakers playing kickball in, (or skateboarding down) the street took care to give that bad boy some "room" when it was parked on the street where we could appreciate it.
Nice chatting, and it's true "they don't make 'em how they used to",
