Didn't expect to be here...

but here I am anyway!

I've always been a "truck" guy (never owned FWD let alone a car before), but i've fallen in love with the MINI and hope to be ordering one soon. I've been actively reading the forums here for a month or so, and thought i'd throw my "story" out there.

About a month or two ago, i decided I needed to get a new car. My other vehicle gets 14 mpg on a "good" day and the miles were starting to get up there (140k miles in 3.5 years).

So i was looking for something fuel efficient and mildy "cool". It was only on a whim that I even looked at the MINI. I used to make fun of a friend who has one, but he kept saying you *have* to drive it... So I had a list of cars to drive one night and I thought, "what the heck"? So I drove the Cooper, and honestly, it was all over at that point. I ended up driving the Scion tC and Mazda3 that night too, but there was nooooooo comparison... The Cooper was just SO much more fun to drive!

Here is where I made my mistake... i thought, if the Cooper is fun, maybe i should try this "S" thing, just to see what it is like.... big mistake! There is no looking back now!

So anyway, to make a long story short, I see a MCS in my future. Just have to settle on a few questions before I put in my order... nothing very new around here I guess!

I'm leaning towards just ordering an '05, although i had originally thought maybe i should wait until the '06 comes out. I just can't wait and i guess it probably won't be that different anyway?

I really like the hyper blue, but I can't get used to paying $420 extra when I think the red looks great too. Other than that, it will be a pretty basic MCS.

Anyway, that's my story. Hopefully i followed all the rules, it's my first post so be gentle on me!!!

jrock,

it's a sickness from which you will never (or even wish to) recover from. I have an '04 and I am always fiddling with it! I little something here a little something there.

Welcome to the fun and uniqueness of the Cooper Culture!

Hey Jrock,

Welcome and great choice in cars although I'm partcial to the Cooper. the S is good to. The red and black look is a real winner if you ask me.

Well you don't have to ask because I would tell you that anyway. You can get the red and black interior without have to spend any money on upgrades. You can also save a bit of $$ by not getting graphics or stripes through the dealer. They stick it to you there.

Take your time when deciding what upgrades you what if your trying to save $$ you can get a lot of the upgrades here at a great price.
See you around.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I *might* be ordering this week as I think i've finally made up my mind (for now) about my options... here is what i'm thinking:

CR/B MCS
Black bonnet stripes
red interior
grey leatherette?
Cold weather pkg
DSC
LSD
Chrono thingy
MFSW

I was thinking of the red octagon seats, but i thought red car, red dash, red seats might be overkill...
And I might end up going with the sport package. Not sure i really *need* it though...

Anything else? Hmm....

jrock, you told my story. i also tested the same cars, was really disappointed with the mazda3, (after all the great reviews) the scion tc was better, but still no comparison. my cr/b should be here in about 3 weeks. ordered first 3 packages, lsd, chrome exterior and interior, grey leatherette, hk. dealer will swap wheels and tires to lighter stocks and deduct $500. best of luck.

That looks like a pretty good set up. You can never have enough red.

If your getting Bonnet stripes you should think about Boot stripes as well. If you decide that now you can have them order you car debadged and give you the badge on the side. That will save 45 bucks a little latter.

BTW If you want black bonnet stripe I will give you an introductory offer of 20 bucks for b/w trim or boarderless.

Cheers
