I was unable to negotiate a lower price than the MSRP when I ordered my MINI a few weeks ago from MINI of Mountain View. In fact I paid $2500 more than MSRP! It was either that and get the MINI in 3 months or pay no MSRP—or wait 11 months at another dealer—or order out of state from some far away dealer (no thank you).

Did you try the order in LA at South Bay MINI the sell at MSRP and Southwest tickets are 50 one way. Drive up the coast for a vacation and brake in time. $2500.00 over is stupid, plus tax on top of that and reg. based on total. Unless you have money to burn, shop around on the phone, Ive bought 3 car on the phone it easy and cheaper.

I am in the business and I paid sticker! . We saved more in time that we could have saved in shopping all over the place to get a couple of hunn'erd dollars off. Joe at Otto's did throw in a (complete) mat set in.

I live in Vegas, shopped and was not willing to pay $2500 over. I called Moritz MINI in Arlington, Tx. They asked list and a 2 month wait. Since I didn't have a trade, I ordered and booked a flight. I actually got the car at the pre2004 price even though I picked up in March. They made the mistake and voluntarily stood by their quote, it saved me $500. I've seen several posts bemoining the fact that MINIs cannot be purchased with a discount as can other brands such as Cadillac. Check out the depreciation on a Caddy CTS or any other brand. I'll take my 2004 MINI that I could sell for what I paid a year ago.

Pricing?

Hello,

Highly recommend Classic MINI, and Mike Kost for your purchase. I'm looking at JCW Tuning Kit at $5500 installed, which is about a 10% discount on the kit itself, and a significant discount on the installation labor, as well.

I'm getting 20% off on my other accessories..

Auxiliary Driving Lamps
Auxiliary Audio Input
Sportlink Receiver
European Parcel Shelf

..and 10% off on the labor for their install. Realize that labor quotes are essentially "a la carte", related items (Parcel Shelf, Audio Input, Driving Lamps with a switch installed ON the Parcel Shelf) can reduce your overall labor charge. Of course, the simple fact that I'm installing nearly SEVEN GRAND in work and shtuff at the dealer means they were willing to deal :-)

Throw in "S" floor mats in place of MINI floor mats, a few nice little goodies, and a dealer that's willing to hold drop-shipped tires and slap 'em on my new MINI for me, and it's definitely a win-win situation here.

I initially felt a touch of buyer's remorse at the fact that I was buying out of state, but MapQuest quickly assuaged that.

"428 miles from home? Hmmm, that's ONE tank of gas! Hell Yes, I'm doing it!"

Good luck with yours!
Matthew Z.

Make sure you get mints. Towson never gave me any.

I offered to purchase two MCS and one Cooper, new, for cash. No West Coast dealer would give me ANY break at all.

Negotiate???

I can't even pursuade my dealer to throw in a set of floormats, which cost them a fraction of the excessive "list price."

If you don't get mints, just walk over to Mike's desk, they're on his paper stack. Mike's a friend of the family, but I didn't know that he worked there until AFTER I ordered my car from his co-worker Bill (actually Bill is my MA, but the order was from the GM as they were busy that day).

I went to visit Mike the other day so my dad could get a ride in a Cooper S (He knows Mike pretty well). When I walked in, he greeted me by name (He monitors the Classic section of NAM's site via e-mail) then proceeded to tell me he's giving me the glovebox organizer and floor mats when my car arrives.

You will not be disappointed with the service there (I've not even got my car yet and they're still a pleasure to deal with).

Dont ask dealer to take any money off the MSRP, just ask them to give you some accessries.
