Anyone else name their cars?
Just saw a post about a MINI named Samantha, and I just wondered who else names their cars. I've named all of mine going back to about 1980. I searched the forums and didn't see any thread about this, but if there are any, please let me know and I'll visit that one.
Otherwise, what are your car's names, and why?
Our '04 MCS dark gray is named Earl, for several reasons. One, he's Gray. Earl Gray, get it? Two, my wife is Irish, and we have the Ireland sticker on the boot, IRL. Hence, Earl. IRL = Earl, get it?
On a somewhat related note, our '03 Honda Pilot is named, what else? Pontius. Pontius Pilot.
Har! I kill me. I need some more coffee. . .

I think the day I pick my MINI up I will name it.
My 1966 Cadillac is named Eleanor, because she was a car that I've always wanted but couldn't get for the longest time, just like the Shelby in Gone in 60 Seconds that Nicholas Cage's character named Eleanor every time he boosted one.
Just seemed to fit. Note that I didn't steal my Caddy though.

Seeing as I am the one contemplating the name Samantha... I do believe in naming cars...when they are special... My big beast of an SUV (which i HATE) didnt deserve a name.. so its simply "the Beast." MINIs deserved to be named... We all (or will) treat them like they are part of the family... and we would never think of having an unnamed human/animal member would we?
I'm leaning toward "Basil" for my Hyper Blue / White MC. Basil is in honor of John Cleese's character, Basil Fawlty, in the British comedy TV series Fawlty Towers.

Yes, that thread is about it. I haven't come up with any names for my car yet, and therefore am not taking part for now. Maybe eventually, when I come up with a fitting name.
