The Mini Newbie
The Mini Newbie
Hey all!
I'm a friend of hafid and was told about this site. I've recently come to the conclusion that my life is incomplete and to fill this void I must get a mini. I've already test driven a Mini Cooper S and refuse to buy anything less than 6 speed manual. BTW, the Mini was my first 6 speed AND supercharged car. My cherry has been broken :D
Anyhoo, joined here in hopes of maybe finding a MC S for sale. I live in Maryland and have actually found some on autotrader.com but am kind of reluctant since the one had so many miles on it and it was only a 2002!
So, try not to be too harsh on me. I'm new to the world of the Mini
Thanks, Kat.

If getting a MINI would make your life complete then harsh responses to your postings on NAM should not matter. But for the sake of good form you might want to discern between "mini", "Mini", and MINI in your posts. Half the folks on NAM don't, but I bet those half are typing with one hand while the other is shifting and, yes, we know what the knees are good for.
In Motoringfile.com it was explained that Mini referred to the original Alec Issigonis design and its variants and MINI is the BMW remake. I believe the the mini was a dress designed by Mary Quandt and named after Sir Alec's car. But then I wondered if she was in any way related to the Quandt family that controls BMW. You will find that NAM threads tend to wander, but perhaps not so much in one post.
I add my welcome to the chorus.

I don't know how many miles were "so many miles" but I have a MCS, got it on 4-19-03, (got my first ticket on 4-7-03), and have 54,000 miles on it.
A couple you might want to check out:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=37317
and
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=38712
are both in the marketplace here on NAM.
Both look like good buys.
Good luck in finding the one you want

Just a thought......And it would be just like Hafid to suggest that.
Anyways, welcome to you. Kat. I am sure you will find a MINI that will allow you to own it. Much like a dog or cat allows you to own them. And when you do...Happy Motoring!!
Welcome to NAM, Kat! Keep shopping for a MINI...you'll find a good one, I'm sure. Haf is a great guy...so nice of him to refer you here! Enjoy the site and if I can help you with anything on it, please send me a Private Mesage!

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I've done all the research I know to do and still haven't found any luck. There've been a couple cases where the car was in a different state, and unfortunately I can't afford to take off another day or three of work to go and pick it up or even to have it shipped. Maryland just doesn't seem to have a lot of MINI's. Ah well. I know I'll find it sooner or later.
Anyhow, I think I'm planning on attending the Dragon this year. It looks hella fun and shoot, even if I don't have a MINI I can still oogle them there :D
I am convinced that I have to get one considering that for the past week, I've seen nothing but MINI's driving around and commercials on T.V. for BMW with MINI's in them. It's a sign. It's gotta be.
