Winter Drive

Today was the first real "winter" drive in the new MINI. Now keep in mind I'm the guy pulling the hand brake to kick the rear end out of my old Accord in the snow. This might have lead to the early death of it drive shaft in the Accord but, it also lead to the earlier than planned purchase of the MINI. Not that I am going to be doing that in the MINI.

I have to say I am awe struck with how it handeled in the snow. Ohio snow. The kind with ice under the snow because the plow trucks never plow till 3 days after it snowed and everyone packs it down into ice. I have never felt as safe on snow than in my MINI. Feels better than the Fiance's 4x4 ( yeah seems odd. I buy the "cute" car and she has a 4x4). Had one emergency braking manuver when a mid 80's pickup did a fishey in front of me. One slight skid and I was in back in total control in about 2 seconds. I knew that the MINI was a well handeling car but I must say I am more than impressed. Now if I could just get over the break in and see what it will really do..... pesky 2 mile drive to work. I keep wanting to road trip with no destination till I am out of break in. It totally worth the wait, I enjoy driveing more in the MINI even with the break in limits than anything else I have ever owned.

Welcome to NAM. The only thing better than a MINI in the snow is a MINI with real snow tires in the snow. With snow tires, the MINI is great until the snow is deep enough that ground clearance becomes the issue.

I haven't driven mine in the snow, but I'm glad it's amazing, atleast now if I get stuck in the snow I feel a lot safer

This is the best car in the snow I have owned.Driven many 4x4's and AWD's,this car is great, kind of low,but you figure out what you can get through.A MINI with good snows, will handle most anything.
Use the e-brake on snow and ice, don't bother on dry roads. And doing reverse 180's from a stand still are a blast.

And twisties are so much fun
