The LSD got me!

Greetings-

I've been watching & waiting, and the availability of LSD finally pushed me over the edge. I sold the last of a long string of vintage sports cars (a 1970 Datsun 2000) and ordered a new MCS just before Christmas. It just arrived at the dealer on Friday. Wow, a sports car with single-digit miles on the odometer and with everything working!

I'm in SoCal. I came close to buying out of state, but ended up ordering from Assael in Monrovia. I had a really good experience, and would recommend dealing with Roger. I did pay $1700 over MSRP, but was promised and got delivery in 2 months for a special order car (also floor mats, a tank of gas, and 15% off parts & accessories). The way I figure it, ordering out would have cost me $1k for shipment and an unpleasant day hassling with smog/registration.

NAM is a great resource, and I'm looking forward to contributing. Count me in if there's a Los Angeles-area pulley party in the near future.

Welcome to NAM.

There's a pulley party in Vegas this weekend! Plus a bunch of cool things going on too. Check out www.amviv.com for details.

Bob,

Aloha and welcome to NAM. Great to hear from you,
Once you get past the break in period test out that LSD and let us know how you like it. The 2005 MCS is quite good with improvements in quality, gearing, and power so an LSD is just more icing on the cake. Pretty reasonable price too. Post some pictures if you can.

Pictures! Can't wait to hear about the LSD once you're done with break-in, I can't wait to get mine and test it out.

Congrats on your new ride! Sounds pretty cool!!!

Just FYI, since you're in SoCal. We do monthly detailing clinics at my house near Culver City, courtesy of Meguiars. We usually have anywhere from 15 to 25 people per clinic. Come on out. Our next clinic will be in May. It's free and you don't have to be a member, though you may desire to become one after your first clinic experience!

More info at:

http://c3club.org

Also, as a new owner, you might be interested in finding other MINI's in your neighborhood--through the National MINI Motoring Database which is on the upper right corner of the c3 website.

From our January Clinic

That's great! For me, it was the revised gearing and the LSD. I'm also getting the JCW suspension. I have about one more month's wait! Hope to see pics soon!

You're going to love the LSD, it really helps put down the power in cornering. The LSD also come with less intrusive DSC programming. I ordered my 05 late Nov/early Dec and took delivery mid-Feb. Paid list, but that's here in the Midwest. Mine has Sports, Premium, LSD...oh hell, it's got damn' near everything except the Nav system!

One thing I really like is the optional gauge pack, which gave me oil temp and pressure in additon to water temp. this also forces the speedo to the steering column, which face it is more appropriate.

OK, try it this way: "which, face it, is more appropriate."

Neil - "Sorry officer, but the speedo is way over there so I never look!"

I meant that for a lot of us the speedo belongs in the center, to me moving it next the tacho = removing character of the interior. That's all...

Bob,

Welcome.

I also found the LSD an important option. don't really know why? I am not going to race, I guess it's just the thought that it's there.

Pictures?

I think that you'll feel the LSD around just about every corner!

I agree that it changes the character and is less authentic with reference to the Classic Mini. But then I never liked the central speedo location in that either!

The nice thing is that we can have it either way now.
