cbkearney Introduction

Hello NAM,

My name is Chris and I have been involved with Minis since 2003 with a supercharged S that I loved and did everything in: commuted, hauled little kids, track days at LRP…

I owned that car until 2014 and took a break from minis and dabbled in Saabs, BMW’s and Land Rovers, a smattering of which still leak oil my driveway.

Now we have a 2015 R60 in the flock. I like to do my own wrenching since the dealerships are so expensive and I haven’t found a mechanic that cares about my cars the way I do… (Any suggestions for a thoughtful mechanic in the Monroe area of CT I would be open to auditioning someone.)

I look forward to the help I can glean from this community, particularly since my wife loves her R60 6-speed, which has 120,000 miles on it and is already talking about her next one…

Thanks in advance for your help and guidance.

Sincerely,
cbkearney
Chris Kearney

OBD Diagnostic Tool

As an aside, I’m looking to upgrade my generic Blue Driver OBD tool to a mini/BMW one that can perform more functions, ie. engage fan switches and such for diagnosing cooling fan related problems that I am having.

I know this can be a coke v. Pepsi question..

I’m looking for something robust that doesn’t break the bank.

New Car New Problems...

Hello NAM,

I have a new to me Mini 2018 JCW Countryman All4S and I have already started to wrench on it.

I have a few questions on my latest adventure, replacing the water pump on the 2.0L motor. I am not sure where the best place is to ask my repair help questions. I posted in the MINI Countryman JCW Garage, but I'm guessing that page doesn't get much traffic.

Is there a better place for me to ask my repair woe questions?

Sincerely,
Chris Kearney
