Wheel and Tire fitment
Wheel and Tire fitment
Happy Motoring to all,
I have a wheel and tire question. I have a 2013 Mini Cooper S coupe (R58) I got a really good deal on a set of wheels (18x8.5) with a +30mm offset. I have no modifications to my suspension. I want these wheels to work with a nice set of tires without rubbing and "stretching" the tires. I expect the wheels to stick out a little but do not want to stretch the tires and dont want any rubbing if I can help it. You super tuners out there please help me with this set up. Let me know what I need, coilovers, spacers, etc..

Sometimes, a "really good deal" isn't really a good deal. This would be not that great of a deal. You're not going to get those to fit very well, without making it look bad.
First off, OEM fitment is 17x7 +48. Nothing else being considered, +30 offset would be like running OEM wheels with 18mm spacers. 15mm spacers will make the OEM wheels and tires just about flush with the fenders. Add to that the extra width from this new wheel, and you're effectively running an additional 19mm spacer, on top of the additional offset. If you would be willing to run 37mm spacer with the OEM wheels, then these new wheels would would be for you. This is all just to figure out where the outside edge of the wheel and tire are going to sit in relation to the fender.
Second, in my opinion, 18" wheels are too big for a Mini. I know the GP1 came with 18's, and Mini offered 18's as an option for the second generation cars, but they are just too big. Tire choices are very slim in the size needed to fit. OEM 18" tire size is 205/40-18. As an alternate, you could run 215/40-18, but choices aren't much better. And, both those sizes are not inexpensive. Both of these tire sizes are going to look stretched on an 8.5" width wheel.
My suggestion, if you haven't exchanged money yet, would be to look for something else. If you have exchanged money, try to unload them and look for something else.
