long term care
long term care
I am going this weekend to order my MCS, but, I have a question or two before I go. I am wondering about the maintainence after the 36k mile mark. Is there a regular service interval like with most cars, or do you just go when the indicator tells you to. Does it use a timing chain or belt. What is the ballpark cost for a 60K mile service?
Thanks for your thoughts

It will (of course) depend on the car and how you drive. For my car which has over 118,000 miles on it I just had to replace the clutch and one front wheel bearing. Now I do drive the hell out of the car. Auto crossing and such. Even with that in mind I still have the original brake pads on the car.
The MINI has a timing chain.
The service reminder will tell you when service is due (if the mechanic re-sets it). The anti-freeze is scheduled to be replaced after four years, and the brakes should be flushed and new fluid installed every two years. Just normal maintenance as any car would require.

The service interval is every 10,000 miles. I'm almost up to 10K, but my car's service countdown says I still have over 3K to go before I'll need service. I use my car for commuting, not racing, so your mileage may vary!
