Limp Mode

Hi! Yesterday, on my way home, I was cruising at 50 MPH with cruise control activated. My car chimed, and a half engine light appeared, throwing my car into limp mode. I pulled over and turned my car off, then decided it was okay enough to drive home. When I turned it back on, after a few seconds, the light went away and my power was restored. Any advice on what to do? Should I still take my car to Oreilleys and get it scanned even with the light off? 2011 R56 Auto, 52,443 miles. Thanks in advance!

My guess is high pressure fuel pump related, but can't tell without pulling the DTC code... Autozone code reader might not get the code. You'll need to either go to the dealer, an independent BMW / Mini shop, or splurge for a Foxwell code reader.
