Old guy/ New to MINIs

Just bought 2005 R53 on September 14. 63,000 miles, auto. trans. Has minor(?) issues- clearcoat peeling in a couple of spots, CEL on, ticking first few minutes after cold startup, still a blast to drive.. Replaced split intake tube and gas cap, did oil change. Need to check fault codes again. Everyone that has been "introduced" to it says it's cute or cool, etc. One of my young coworkers rode with me to get lunch on Friday- had him grabbing for an oh **** handle at the first turn without really trying! These cars get a lot of love.

Easy to go from “that’s cute” to “hold your drink ” in a blink. Congrats, you’ll have a blast.

Congrats and welcome! Your MIMI looks great (although I might be biased as I also have a Chili Red/White R53 ) I recently picked mine up a few months ago and have been slowly checking off the boxes on things to take care of as well. Luckily, there's tons of great information on here to help you flowing in the right direction.

The ticking noise on start up might be related to timing chain tensioner, you might want to give that a search and see if it fits your description. I recently changed mine as well, extremely easy if you have the right tools.
