Hey everyone

Just bought my wife a 08 Cooper S Hatchback but the engine was half tore down due to getting the head gasket replaced and I bought it as is....God help me.....found out the number 10 torque head bolt is stripped so I have to take the Block to get it tapped....so I'm almost at the point of taking the motor all the way out....I am curious though....is there a manual that starts at the beginning of the engine tear down, and goes step by step till u get to a naked block without jumping all over the place to find the correct order for people like me who aren't mechanics but yet do it??? Thank you!! I've purchased E manual online but it's not even close to having an order, it seems like it expects me to know what to do next....lol. thanks again!!!

Wow. Not a mechanic, but, willing to take it on? I admire your spirit. Come to think of it, when I bought my first vehicle with 4 wheels, I was 15, and the engine was in pieces in big wire baskets in the bed of that 1958 Ford F-150 truck. I learned a lot, and it was running fine when I sold it to go off to college. But, it wasn't a Mini...this is going to be a bit more complicated! I wish you all the best! I wish I could help, but, I don't know enough about your engine/car...someone will be along to help...I hope soon!

Yes, get a Haynes manual for your car. Chapter 2 Part C Section 7 is the disassembly sequence and Section 10 is the reassembly sequence. I find it to be a good reference for myself. If I am really stuck I pull out the Bentley MINI Cooper Service Manual. Between the two of them I can get things accomplished.

Best of luck on the rebuild!
