Hey guys/gals,
I'm new to the mini scene and ready to get things going! Lots of questions and info to hunt out as I embark on the basics. Last weekend I picked up a 2004 R53 for my wife. Its basically my ploy to get her involved in the garage since I do yoga with her. See the trade off?! I'm also building a 2000 VW Passat which is my primary build. I'll be putting together a build log on this site so people can follow my progress.
Here is the little turd we picked up for the wife. Needs a little love. For starters, going to replace the accessory belt and the pulley/tensioner, oil change, and new ebrake cables. From there I need to see what plugs it has and run some cooler ones. What is everyone running for plugs when using the 17% reduction pulley? Also wanting to upgrade the intercooler sooner than later so taking input on brands as well.

For some background... I love building cars, I'm also not a pro.
This is my 2000 vw passat V6 fwd, which is my primary build. I chose to build this motor because everyone always does the 1.8t, or swaps in the Audi 2.7biturbo. So here's to doing something unique. Its a 2.8L NA that I have out at the machine shop right now. I am using the stock 2.8 heads but using the audi 2.7biturbo block with 6 bolt mains to have some added strength. Custom rosstech billet pistons made, forged H-beam rods and the rest of the works are all going into this motor. To make it spicy I have an Eaton M62 blower that will go ontop of it. Hoping to have the car at least running by may/june!

This was last summers project that I picked up to run the motor and such around for the VW build above.

Here is my little love I built two summers ago. 1989 VW Carat. This car (not the exact one) was the car that first got me into VWs when I was 18. I brought that thing back from the dead and it was so fun to do!

This is my daily, I built this one two springs ago. 2002 VW Passat V6 4MOTION. Fun and steady car. Nothing amazing but I took 4 months to go through her, add some features and put it on air for the low n slow vibe.

And lastly, (but there really are far more cars that have been on the roster), my Blue B5 wagon I finished in 2018. Supercharged V6, bagged and fully redone by me. It's no show stopper, but I am proud to have built it. Oh and right next to that is the wifes 2017 Mercedes C300.

So as you can see, love motoring. And my wife (2.5 years married now) realizes that its not some fad, it's my passion! So here we sit, now ready to get her in on the action too! Look out for a build log likely titled "Less than average Mini" or something dumb like that. If anyone has interest in my other build logs I'm happy to share links with you. Most of them live under my vwvortex. com s/n "gettajetta13"
