Radio functions, but no sound ANSWER
Radio functions, but no sound ANSWER
Howdy~
After installing new front speakers, I had an issue- head unit functions, but no sound. In my case, the HU would work fine with the ignition in accessory position, but once the car was started, the sound would go away. Readouts, fine, could search a station, etc- but no sound. I could even turn the ignition ON on a hill- the HU would play sound, I'd bumpstart it, it would still play- for a while. Then silence.
I searched. Many similar issues, mostly with the HK units- bad amps was suggest. But maybe...
I hit the junkyard and bought another HU- $25. This one would light up, search/lock on stations, but would not play at all.
Then it occurred to me.
I pulled off the door card and examined the speaker installation. I've been installing radios since I was 13 (almost 50 years ago) but I screwed this one up (my first!). The speaker terminals had j u s t barely contacted the metal door cutout (Polk replacements) and j u s t b a r e l y caused a short condition. This obviously triggered a circuit protection in the head unit.
SO!
No Audio from an otherwise functioning HU? Check for speaker wire shorts.

Hello,
Check wires and then see if you are getting voltage past the amp and to the amp. Most of the time the H/K amp goes. Do you have H/K, just making sure.
