I just joined here today after looking at several Mini forums, this one has the most familiar layout compared to other forums I have been a member of for many years.

A few days I bought a 2007 Mini Cooper, Base Hatchback model with a 1.6L DOHC and a 6-speed manual. I think it is a R56 model with a N12 engine?
Main reason I bought the Mini was that I wanted a light weight car to tow behind our Class C MB Sprinter based RV. The mini has a lot of miles but Carfax shows regular maintenance and the last owner recently had the timing chain and related items replaced. Overall the car is very nice, unmolested and runs and drives great.

Little bit about me. I was born and raised in Germany where I attended a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto mechanic. I moved to the US in 1985, joined the Army in 1986, switched over to the MO National Guard in 1992 and worked as a fulltime technician until I retired last year. I worked in the automotive maintenance field throughout my career and my last position was as a State Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Shop Supervisor.

Glad to have found this forum and to be a member of it. I am sure that I will have some Mini specific question and I also will be able to contribute to the forum based on my working background in the automotive field.
