New to Mini

Thanks for the add. I am new to the Mini game. I bought an 07 base for my wife and I am getting it road ready. I have some questions for seasoned Mini guys and gals. The mini I bought had a spun rod bearing, I am sourcing a new crank and rod to put in it. The problem I have come across is, when I tore the engine down I found two spring steel retainer clips inside. One was in the pan and the other was in the valve train. Would anyone have any ideas where these spring clips could have come from? I was thinking maybe from the oil pump. They are approximately 1” long and have a couple bends that make them look something like this [__]. Once again thanks for the add and any help would be appreciated. I don’t want to put it back together until I have an idea where these came from. I would have to have to do it again because I didn’t do it right the first time.

I found out where they came from. These are retainer clips from below the cams.

You can see the end of them at the bottom of the photo.
