Hello from Las Vegas!

Hey everyone! Just purchased this 2010 JCW on a Bring-A-Trailer auction! It appears to be more modified than the seller realized so it will be a fun and interesting journey toward figuring out what exactly I bought haha. The seller was a dealer who got it at auction so there's a lot about it he doesn't know. Obviously some of the mods are visible but it will take some digging to figure out more. I know it has an upgraded turbo from JMTC, which one...not sure. ECU upgrade/tune? Probably but don't know which. Clutch...feels like it but who knows... I know this, it runs and drives great, it's super fun, and it's boosting to 20psi!

I haven't even had the chance to get it up in the air since I bought it but will soon. I also located the previous owner who did the mods but he hasn't responded to my Facebook message. Hoping he can just give me a parts list! Also found him on here but he only had 4 posts from 2016, one of which was talking about the JMTC 47mm GTD turbo he was "thinking of getting" so my guess is that's what's on it.

Either way should be a fun journey! The current styling isn't exactly my favorite but a slew of parts are already on order to change that!

Also, here's a link to the BaT listing if anyone is interested...

Aaaannndd the first (and hopefully last) bit of disappointing news...

What was believed to be a JM Turbo Coopers turbo appears to be a stock turbo, but what's worse, a damaged stock turbo. So one of the four posts by the previous owner references how he found this problem and "caught it in time." I am assuming that is the point which he upgraded the turbo. He must have swapped it back to the damaged stock one before getting rid of it.

Yep, thats what it looks like, they left the Forge Uprated BOV, i have that also. The Good thing is we have all the turbos you need from JMTC or borg warner.

Sorry to hear about the turbo, the R56 looks great and has that rare Aero Sport Body kit which some people opted for.

Welcome to the forum. Sucks on the turbo. Check the classifieds there is a turbo for sale if im not mistaken. 20lbs of boost i do believe is a stage 2 tune. From what i have read Manic tune the power is now, and a RPM tune will build it throughout the RPM range.

I just sent you guys an email last night! The seller I bought it from says he seems to think the ECU tune was through you guys but he wasn't sure. At the end of the day I need to replace the turbo so I suppose the next step is to figure out what supporting mods I have and what turbo that would support.

Thanks for the info! So are the tunes for these pretty standardized? Knowing that it has some sort of tune on it already can I be confident in replacing the turbo without having to get another tune?

Manic and RPM tunes are the common ones. Ask Mario Kart on here, he is the man that knows these engines and is out in Cali.

Thats good, I bet it had a S42 JMTC or something. I can ask my friend at JM TC if he remembers the car. That way he can tell me what it had,

That would be awesome! I emailed them (and ECS) to see if they can look up the dude's name and see what parts were ordered.

Keep in mind the good news: any broken part is time for an upgrade!

It seems, we all have to bring our MINIs up to our level of quality before we are happy. Mine had 13,000 miles and still needed a pile of work.

I have been to Vegas twice. I was shocked the first time how much I loved the area. The second time, I made an excuse to go back and spend a week. The only thing that would have made the trip to the valley of fire better would have been the ability to do it in a MINI.

I am absolutely in love with Vegas. I don't think I could live anywhere else. Definitely no excuse to ever be bored here! Vegas has a really great outdoors scene that is kind of a hidden secret. Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, Logandale, Mt. Charleston, Mt. Potosi, Sloan Canyon, Lake Mead, etc. Then just 2 hours away you have arguably the most beautiful part of Utah with Zion, Bryce Canyon, Sand Hollow, etc.

Contacted JMTC and he does not remember it from pics, you might need to talk to him about the old owners info to find out.

Thanks! I know the dealer I bought it from put the red stripes on, it used to have matte black checkered stripes when the previous owner had it. JMTC emailed me back though and I talked to them a little. Without an address they can't find anything but he may have purchased through a dealer and not direct through JMTC. Good news is it appears to have all of the supporting mods for up to a 47mm turbo which is what the evidence suggests was on there. I don't know if I want to go that big but might just do the 42mm and call it a day.
