About 5 months ago I was able to pick up a 2008 R52 MCS JCW with about 80k miles on it. It's BRG with some extras. I'm having a blast with it already. It's been well kept, always a California car, but it's showing it's age in years. This spring/summer I plan to go through many of the maintenance and replacement items, including some suspension rebuiliding. Having read through a gazillion posts here, and with the documentation from Pelican and others, I feel prepared to spend a few weekends on this car.
I've already responded to a couple of posts just trying to do a "simple" thing of converting the black interior to beige (seems better to avoid hot surfaces in the sun with the top down). But, I figured I'd introduce myself before starting my own other threads. Mainly I'm looking to put new wheels and tires on the car, so I'll be selling the set on the car and the extra set that came with the car.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to cruising the SF Bay Area and Central Coast with the top down most of the time this summer! Maybe I'll see some of you around.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I do actually like the look of the wheels. I thought I saw somewhere that they were 28 pounds, so I was wanting to find something lighter. With further research, they look to be 20 pounds... I think I can live with that. Dropping down to a 7" wide rim and narrower tires to only lose 5 pounds or so isn't worth it to me. But I do have a set of heavy R98 2-piece wheels that I am happy to have go to a new home!
@ECSTuning - yes, I am super glad I ended up with a JCW. The extra horses really put a smile on my face!
@Husky44 - I can see how the mod bug hits hard and quick. Same as with my pickup truck, if I'm rebuilding the suspension, I might as well rebuild it with some improvements over stock. Luckily(?), with the JCW, I don't think there's much more improvements over stock that I can do with the drivetrain. I'd just like to eliminate the oil leaks
