After 17 1/2 years...

Hello, all. Just today had a new to me 2006 R53 delivered. It’s an S 6-speed.

I wanted to buy buy one when they first came out when I passed the bar in 2002, but the new missus was wisely prudent, and we held back. But now we’ve a 15 year old miss who’s getting ready to learn to be mobile, and I want her to learn to DRIVE, or should I say “motor.” So I found an ‘06 with 50k and pulled the trigger. Its a slicktop stripper - a/c and xenons, nothing more. Everything we’ll need.

Look forward to learning my way around the neighborhood here.

Regards.

Awesome, congrats. Long time but glad you finally got one. I could not wait that long and wanted one in 2002 but saved up and by the end of 2004 (2005 MY) I got one.

You picked the best of the litter. Just one caution based on dealing with my co-pilot concerning clutch pedals. Teach your young'un to keep her foot OFF the pedal while in motion, pedal CLEAR to the floor when shifting and at intersection or other stops; into neutral and foot off the clutch. Wander thru this forum and you will read about clutches and TO bearings crapping out in much less that 100 K miles.
One other thing: Pictures, dammit, pictures. Without pictures, it didn't happen.
Also, here's a link to great 'motoring' roads: https://www.motorcycleroads.com/
