Yes, it was drivable. My friends at Midlands Motorworks in Columbia, SC could believe it. I must say it had beed slipping for a few years, but I had no money to replace it and I drove it a little bit on the "wussy" side. When I had a hard time getting up the hill to my driveway, I had to bite the bullet and decide to drive my Mini another 14 years LOL !.

Not bad for 14 years old. How many miles?

And please do not take this wrong, but I have joked about the very imaginative User Name I chose when I first signed up here, R53Coop, to some other members. Now I don't feel too bad with having Gen1 as a fellow member.

Yes, on mine the fingers from the pressure plate were worn into the throw out bearing, I got about 160K out of mine. Otherwise, the clutch would still go.

The Gen1 MINI is a great car. When I joined up I was surprised that R53coop was still available, I was sooooooo lucky.

You can always change your user name.

Mine looked pretty close to that, but it wasn't all the way down to the rivets. My clutch was 14 years old, and had 140,000 miles on it before it started slipping.

It's amazing how long they last if you actually know how to drive your car. I laugh at some of these guys that complain that their clutch only lasted 60,000 miles.....it's because you don't know what you are doing

I believe forum member xsmini, who some will remember for his extensive engine rebuild thread, replaced his original clutch at 365,000 miles...
