Hello to All, My name is Paul. No, this isn't going to be a clever poem intro.
Wife wanted a new car, small but practical but still sporty (sounds like a Mini to me) After 27 years I knew enough to not to tell her anything, like "Oh you're describing a ________!"
Someone she knows had a Mini and she asked, "What do you think?" I was thrilled but responded with a neutral face, suggesting she drive one and off to the dealership we went.
2012, new models coming out and the salesman was urging her towards a 'normal' clubman. She drove it and liked it. I was sitting on my hands hoping she'd say "What's next?" . She did and he assumed she meant "Write it Up"
No, she wanted to drive an "S". She did and there was a grin on her face. She built her Mini. (I couldn't sway her to the extra bucks for a John Cooper Works model, oh well.)
It arrived and the gal who hates traffic, hates other drivers and in general hates cars, LOVES HER 2013 Clubman S MINI!
So I'm hip deep in getting a car restored and the timeline is shot to Hell and I need a driver. I see a Craigslist ad for 2012 Mini Clubman S. Turns out I'm back at the same dealership, nice car. Alongside it is the exact package my wife got only a year newer than hers and $6K more than the one I'm looking at. Woulda, shoulda and with a little budget belt-tightening, coulda. But I didn't and bought the older model. I haven't regretted it, after all it was just an interim vehicle until my project car was completed.
The project hit the skids. It's been two years now and 'My Mini' now has cool coilovers and a new stance, drilled disc brakes, tinted glass and neat stripe, roof rack, a meatier muffler sound and I'm now looking at chip-power and a new intercooler. Oh yeah I've been bitten by the Mini-bug ... Did I mention he's had three sets of wheels (shoes) and I am happy with my last selection. Shopping for Mini is so much fun! (Pictured below are 'shoes ' #1, and the Rotiforms that preceded them(?) below that)
Hi and welcome to the NAM family!
We see this often, you get one then soon after another!
People that understand these cars, know why they are getting them! For the fun and the good feelings they give you!
Congrats X2!
