I have been interested in MINI for 4 years, owned some for 3, and been lurking all the forums for roughly the same amount of time.
I have previously owned a Hypermetalic Blue r53, sadly a truck totalled it, and I am now the owner of a Dark Silver r53 with 201k on it. To be perfectly frank, I made an account because I am having a heck of a time using the search features available to me to nail down an issue that has cropped up with my current r53 as it was returned to me out of the shop, but I will leave those details to a different thread.
Picture is my r53 before I removed the racing stripes, which left me with a very strange hood that needs paint and bra work that will most likely be more expensive than its worth.
Looking forward to participating in these threads any way I think I can be helpful.
Hi and welcome to the NAM family!
Better to be a member than just a lurker, as you can now help others, as they have hopefully helped you in the past!Sad to hear the hyperblue got totaled by a truck!
I hope you are happy with your new to you, silver Mini S. It has the JCW trim, minus the badge. is a JCW or just has some body parts of one? Is it an 06?
Welcome, I too just upgraded from lurker to 1st gear member :P Simply posting your initial post, expect some PMs from some long time members giving you some great tips! Nice to know they last to 200,000 miles! Nice lookin' ride!

I saw someone on one of the Facebook groups recently that had a 300k r53, and then I saw a 600k r50.
I'm afraid my car is not as beautiful as it was when that picture was taken, as I have removed the racing stripes and now my hood looks like absolute ****, I wasn't expecting there to be no clear bra underneath the stripes, and half of the hood is severely sunfaded.
And as far as the reliablilty goes, its been alright, I still feel uneasy driving it as I still haven't deduced what is making the non-supercharger whine. And if I had known how much the repair was going to cost, I would have parted it out in my driveway and bought a new Si or ST.
