Howdy All!

Quick note to introduce: just bought our first Mini yesterday afternoon. It is a 2013 S coupe with a salvage title. The vehicle was involved in an accident around 2017 with both doors caved in. It was purchased at auction and repaired by a guy in LA who specializes in fixing up salvage-title Minis. My Son in law bought the vehicle from the fellow who restored it and has had it about a year. It turned out that he didn't like driving a stick vehicle as much as he remembered. LOL. Anyway, he has to commute across some rough roads daily and the ride out to where he works is about 30 miles one-way, so he decided he wanted something with an automatic and a diesel. My wife and I, on the other hand, really did not need a car. However, she has ALWAYS been in love with Mini-Coopers and we were both thinking about some kind of small car we could get to tow behind our motorhome. My SIL's Mini fit the bill nicely. Our car is an S with a 6-speed manual, but fairly basic after that. No nav, no mini-connect, etc. Everything works fine as near as I can tell. I have not climbed around under the car to see if there are any serious remnants of damage caused by the accident the car was in, but honestly I am not too worried about it. We got the car for about half of what it would go for with a clean, non-salvage, title, it is at 29k miles, and the engine runs great. The car is a blast to drive as far as I am concerned and my wife of 48 years, who grew up, like me, driving manual transmission vehicles, loves it. So thank you for letting me join. Greetings from the high desert of California.

Welcome from Los Angeles. I hope you enjoy your new car. Minis can be a lot of fun and of course manual transmissions are more fun when not in heavy traffic. This forum has been a great source of information for myself.
