Greetings from CT

I have been wanting a MINI ever since 2002 and have finally pulled the trigger. Awaiting delivery of my 2017 JCW Convertible- Rebel Green, Black Dinamica Cloth, etc.

The funny thing is that I finally pursued a MINI because I missed owning a car with a MT and....you can guess the punchline...I bought it with an automatic.

Spent the last 2 months searching for a well optioned 2016-2017 JCW-C with MT and found that it was not an easy can for which to search. It didn't help that I set a budget that was more aligned with a well optioned S than a well optioned JCW!

Found a near perfect car in ATL but it had auto. So I dismissed it. Couldn't find anything else in my price range and was growing impatient so reverted to a couple of S's. Woke up one AM and felt like I was settling and I knew that wouldn't get good for me long term. When to my local dealer and drove a MT and an AT back to back....and while I loved the MT, I ended up finding that the auto was actually more fun to drive. I was definitely shifting more, and more aggressively. Loved the downshift exhaust gurgle, etc.

Went home and negotiated on the JCW and voila- anxiously awaiting delivery. Can't wait...and already thinking about a few cosmetic mods: JCW Bonnet Strips, JCXW Pro Mirror Caps, and maybe Black Checkered Dash Trim.

Thanks to the Forum for being a great source of info during my search-

Welcome to the forum and congratulations for your new purchase. I was concerned for you giving up the manual until I got to the point where you stated you drove both an automatic and manual back to back. There is little logical justification for a manual today, however, some people (such as myself) consider it more fun to drive a manual. Manuals are great for back winding roads, however, they stink for real-world rush hour driving.

The JCW will be a great car for you. Let us know how you like it after it arrives and you have a chance to drive it on your local roads.
