I just got my mini a few weeks ago. Had wanted one for years and now I finally own a beautiful PW/B one. Thinking about adding bonnet stripes soon! Noticed you are from LA Boss, I moved to Baltimore from New Orleans a year ago. Still miss that place.

Hello from Laurie in Seattle

Hello, I am Laurie and I am very excited to say I am going to order my new Mini soon! I have had a crush on this car since I saw the movie years ago (I probably shouldn't admit that but it's true). Every time I see a Mini I do a double take. I stop and look at them in parking lots-probably worried some people Well I finally went to Northwest Mini and drove a Cooper S and in five minutes I was in LOVE. If they would have had the exact car I wanted in stock I probably would have handed over my wallet with a silly grin on my face. However, I managed to control myself. So now I'm dreaming of a chili red Cooper S with black roof and bonnet stripes. I am trying to make a few decisions, the biggest being do I order from NW or head to Portland where they are slightly less expensive? NW sells at MSRP plus the $595 "dealership fee"- Yikes, I guess they do it cuz they can! The Portland dealer charges $295 dealership fee and they throw in floor mats and wheel locks. In addition they give you a $250 discount for being a Costco member. I would have gone ahead and ordered through Portland but when they quoted installation on the accessories it was really high and all the savings went away. The accessories I am getting are: Chrome Driving Lamps, Checkered Sunroof Graphic, Checkered Flag Mirror Caps. My Dad thinks I am nuts to get the checkered stuff but I like them The options I am going to order are: Convenience Package, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, Sport Package, Center Arm Rest, Anthracite Headliner, Lounge Leather Black, Navigation, Hi-Fi Sound System, Rooster Red Color Line, Piano Black Interior, Rear Park Distance Control, Black Bonnet stripes. I know it's optioned to the max, but I like that. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice before I sign the papers?? Should I do the accessories somewhere else or is the dealership the best place? I guess I could buy the car from Portland and then the accessories from NW. Is there anything I left out that I should order, or do I have some options that I might not like?
Thanks to anyone who would like to give me some input!

Oh, I love newbies like you, Laurie! Welcome to the MINIverse and all the craziness it entails. It sounds like you'll fit RIGHT IN. Take a breath, though, kay? So you don't pass out and miss something!

Accessories are always going to cost you more from the dealer, but if you're that new and you can swing it, i say go for it. It sounds to me like you're going to enjoy it no matter what, and that's what counts the most.

Again, WELCOME TO THE MINIVERSE! Hang on and enjoy the ride!

Savi424,
I have had my chili red mini for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. I still get a rush every time I get into the car.

You will have a great support group here at NAM.

I hope you enjoy your little beauty as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Um, I might have some bad news for ya...The length of time it takes for your MINI to actually arrive is really in a time-warp. You feel every single second of the wait time. SO...by the time you actually get your MINI, you may have developed a new virtue! Good thing NAM is here to support. Check out the OCMD thread (Obsessive Compulsive MINI Disorder) - tips on how to survive the wait.

Oh boy, thanks for the warning. I put my order in TODAY! They tell me it should be here by the end of June. I will be checking out the OCMD thread next, sounds like my kind of place.

I won't start worrying yet though, I want to enjoy the buzz !

Hey all! I'm a first time owner of an '05 MCSCon. and I'm in LOVE! Stumbled upon this site and it seems very helpful. That said, any suggestions on cleaning products to use that won't fade my top?? Please reply direct to me if you know of any, thanks

Mini on.

I have been a member of NAM for a few months, but I am just now posting in this forum. Hello to everyone. It has been a year today since I knew I was getting my 2008 MY Clubman. It was an anniversary gift, and a great surprise. I didn't get it until July 28th and I have loved every minute of it. I also love NAM as all of you do. I am a Dallas girl, and a member of Metroplex MINI Club. You might log on and see what we are doing.

New around here

Greetings! I am part of the "eagerly awaiting my new MINI" club. I ordered my Nightfire Red Clubman on the 20th of May. After following it through the production process, I am now eagerly tracking the Otello as it slowly but steadily crosses the Atlantic towards the Panama Canal. I'm expecting to take delivery sometime around mid-July and can't wait!

Hi All! I actually took ownership of my Mini over a month ago (May 2, 2009). I have lurked on this site for over 2 years! I've posted several times at Puget Sound Mini but not here yet. I've put 3,800 miles on the little tomato already. And, YES, it's an '09 Chili Red MC, white lid, white bonnet stripes and mirrors, cold weather package, premium package, convenience package, bluetooth and the iphone to hook up.
Still have the stupid grin. Eveytime I see another MC or MCS on the road I do the "cool wave thing"-especially if it's another Chili Red. I do a 50 mile round trip every day for work and get almost 40mph on the freeway. Who needs a hybrid????
I only fill up the tank about every 10 days depending on how much I drive over the weekend. Sooo nice to pass by the gas stations now that gas is going up again.

Which forum for maintenance?

Hi,
I'd like to create some posts showing some maintenance procedures but I'm not sure which Forum to choose. I can't seem to find a dedicated Maintenance or DIY Forum. Thanks for your help.
