I have had a 2015 BMW X5 diesel for 3 years. I drive about 20 miles a day and came to the realization that I just didn't need the space and features that it had. I was really looking to downsize to something fun, even though I swore I would never have a small care again since people in Houston drive like animals. My husband has talked about wanting a MINI for as long as I have known him. I never really entertained the idea of me actually owning one. I agreed to test drive one thinking that I would talk my self of wanting it or a small car at all, but I would at least make him happy by giving it a shot. I fell in love. If car shopping wasn’t a challenge he enjoyed, I probably would have picked one off the lot that day. After about 3 days of intense shopping and negotiating on his end, we purchased a 2016 JCW. The JCW was his idea, like I said, I drive 20 miles a day, any mini would have made me happy. It came from out of state, so I needed to be patient. And I am not good at being patient. I had a to do list and wish list going before it even got here. I’m pretty sure I had accessories before I had the car. It’s a good thing we don’t have any kids, this thing gets all my attention! Here it is when I got it...
Welcome to the forum. I suspect Minnie.the.Moocher summed up the situation accurately. He has a plan that involves him putting a lot of miles on your new MINI. If I had to guess, I suspect he drives a Ford F150 or perhaps a F250 that we can't live without, but it would make more sense for him to drive the MINI since he has a long commute and the MINI gets better mileage.
I am in Houston as well. I just got my First generation cabrio a couple of weeks ago. Good to see I’m not the only one who test drove and was sold right away. Best wishes with the new machine.
I'm with the others that your husband is going to be finding reasons to take the Mini over whatever he is driving. When my wife saw mine I could see the disappointment in her face when she saw that it was a manual gearbox. I knew she was going to try and take it from me until she saw that stick shift.
