Just purchased my first Mini a month or so ago and so far I'm loving it! I've owned/driven a number of lower, faster cars over the years, but this one is by far the most fun! It's a 2006 Mini Cooper S with just a shade over 63,000 miles, no winters and all stock. Since I've owned it, I've jumped into some deferred maintenance thanks to Mod Mini's YouTube channel, changed the fluids and filters and installed a 15% pulley. I may look at an intake or exhaust in the future, but right now I'm just enjoying it for the summer and lurking here to try and absorb as much information as possible.
Thanks! It's a great community and I'm looking forward to contributing once I get up to speed.
Definitely Way! It's completely stock with the exception of a 15% pulley, and everything works great, so I'm spending some time really getting to know the car first. A friend has your Stratmosphere exhaust on his R53 and loves it, so that's on my list ;-)
It could still have the original struts and if they are, they are toast. So if you think it is fun now basically driving only on the springs just think what you will have when the struts are like new . . . . . .
I have a few receipts from the previous owner (tires, thermostat, water pump, PS fan etc.), but nothing regarding shocks. I'll take a closer look at them and see what they look like.
Thanks everyone! I also just experienced my first MINI issue: the crank pulley fell apart. Fortunately, I was close to home, but now getting it towed to the mechanic, so no miles will be added this weekend... Will see which parts ultimately need to be replaced, but I think at the very least replacing with an ATI.
