Hi from Lakeside, CA.
New here with my daughter's 2009 Mini Cooper.
She drives it and loves it and I play mechanic.
Not too often but a little more often that I would have thought from European car and the local dealer has been no help at all so really hoping to find some knowledge here.

A MINI is a BMW and that means that maintenance if not preformed will bite you in the butt. The Gen2 Stock Problems/Issues section is a good place to check and post your questions. The FAQ in that area may also be of help.
