welcome to Nam it's a great place to find answers. I have a 2004 R53 and I've done a lot of work on it what issues are you having with yours?
I just bought a 2004 R53 from the original owner, 167k miles in VG to EC...
previous owner had the coolant reservoir and at least one or two hoses replaced recently. Is there any easy way to see if the tstat/housing/ oring was also replaced? it's not listed in the stack of work history papers they provided

From what I can tell every bit of the suspension and steering is original....it rides and handles really well, but I'm thinking I should plan on control arm bushings and front inner/outer ball joints before I get new tires and alignment
do you have any paperwork that shows a supercharger oil service because at that mileage if it hasn't been done it's a great idea. And when you get the supercharger off the water pump and thermostat housing and all the hoses and o rings that connect things are all right there and it's a great time to look at those otherwise they're pretty tricky to get at. The control arm bushings are are probably a great idea at that mileage too I recommend powerflex polyurethane bushings. They are way easier to get back in and actually if I had to do it again I just buy new bushing brackets without the bushings in them and put the powerflex bushings right in there. The brackets aren't that expensive and it's way easier then wrestling the old bushings out.

No record of water pump or supercharger service. It had the NTSB PS replacement from the mini dealer less than 5k miles ago.
It's also had the valve cover gasket replaced, however it still leaks oil...possible crank pos sensor oring.....do R53's have the problematic chain tensioners like gen 2 mini coopers do?
You are in Raleigh and Chris at G3 in Raleigh is the MINI guru around these parts.
yes, I stopped by and talked to them before buying this car. First class operation over there.
If there's something I can't handle I'll go there. I plan to do as much maintenance and repair work myself as possible, I enjoy it and there's more money left to spend on go fast parts later.... I've mostly worked on my old rwd 32v 4.6L lincoln Mark 8's in the past.....this fwd W11 car is a blast
