Underbody.

Hello, I have looked for this answer in many places so I apologize if this has been asked. My 23 yo daughter just got her license and the car she has always wanted. All on her own BTW. However I noticed that there is no panel protecting parts that are exposed underneath. She has a 2009 Base cooper hardtop 68k miles. If anyone knows of a part number or could shed some light I would very grateful for your help. Thank you.

Oh BTW she named her car Dolores🤔

I slapped on the GP belly pan ( https://www.outmotoring.com/gp-belly...kid-plate.html ) under the engine but all the rest along the of the under carriage came stock. Thought they all had the paneling underneath. Try out eMINIparts.com, they're my OE go to. If you can't find what you're looking for, shoot them a message. They're very good about responding.

Found some here too though not sure how to purchase on this site: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_6584

Can also try dealership sites: https://parts.miniofkennesaw.com/sho...modelRange=536

After doing some looking I'd go to eMINIparts.com and have them put together you a bundle of all parts needed and throw you a quote. It'll just be easier as he always gets you everything you'll need and gives a good price.

A photo of the area would help... is it from the top of the engine looking into the engine compartment or is it from the bottom of the engine compartment looking up?

Plastic Engine Cover or Skid Plate(s)

Engine Cover - 11127585906
Skid Plate... I didn't see one listed in the parts manual but there are some after market ones like this one... https://www.ecstuning.com/b-rennline...plate/u03~rel/

I hope that helps...

Motor On!

We have the kits here for the R56-R59 GP2 belly pan kits here:

51757330566 KT and DIY

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...y-pan-kit.html

If you need the ones that came on the factory JCW to your Cooper or Cooper S for the underbody panels they are here:

For the R56, R57, R58 and R59 DIY

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...se-in-mpg.html

They make a metal one above for the front belly pan. Which JABowders linked above. No metal protection for the middle panels, just the add on aero ones.

It just supposed to have a smallish plastic pan covering to the oil pan area. The rest is exposed pretty much. If I recall, its pretty cheap at the dealer.

The GP2 pan does not have an access area to the oil drain plug. You have to drop the pan with speed screws, its easy i do it on my r58 JCW all the time.

Hi and welcome to NAM. This is the place to come, to keep your daughters car in tip top shape!
Lots of help from the good folks here!
Congrats to your daughter, for knowing how sweet these cars are. The base models are fine cars and get great mileage to boot!

I remember back in the old days if you dropped a nut or bolt if bounced off the garage floor. Now it gets lost in plastic pans beneath the engine, progress!

Hi and welcome to NAM! Check out the Gen2 forums, lots of information there.

The plastic panels underneath are not stock items on all versions of the Gen2, mainly they are aero add-ons to the GP2. Hope your daughter is enjoying the car!
