Welcome to NAM.

Dino BBQ, Destiny Mall, SU B-ball and Billy Fuccillo. A good road for your Mini is NY 13 from Cazenovia to Chittenango Falls.

Tehans was across from Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford. It turned into an Old Navy and it's now a Hobby Lobby.

I'm not sure when the mall was built, but my earliest memory of it is about 1980......maybe 1979.

Hey all,

Thanks for the comments,

I just moved here recently, so need to get familiar with the places mentioned. I have been to Dinosaur!
I definitely will pick the forums brain on some issues

Thanks!

becoming a life of R53 thread

I have seen quite a few of these so I figured, why not? I will document the things done to the car here. I hope the higher ups don't mind?

Pics of the car when I first brought it home

Being from the salt belt

Being that the car is from the salt belt, it had some obvious issue. The boot hatch is rusting. I found a replacement one from a wrecker in Atlanta for $90. It came from a Chili red, with red roof. So I am having the hatch repainted to match my chili red with black roof. Will be getting it this week.

Union Jack

I have always liked the Union Jack on the Mini's roof, so doing some searching I found one that will only cover the glass. It also helps with sun penetration!

"salt belt", hmm Syracuse aka the "Salt City". Syracuse University when years back the sports mascot was the "Saltine Warrior". Syracuse where back in the day the DPW would did a hole in the ground, pump the water out and then spray it on the roads during the winter as it was "salt water".

And perhaps the best, Syracuse where the holes in your car get so big from salt rot that you have to check each morning before you leave to make sure your cat is not in the hole leaving you a present. The cat uses the rust flakes to cover up the present.

The SU mascot is an orange now, very intimidating!

Thanks for the heads up! I will have to check for stray cats and squirrels till the new hatch is on!

"Carbon fiber" pieces

I am not a big fan of the three colors on the car, red, black and chrome, so I decided the chrome should go.

I hydro dipped some of the chrome piece to look carbon fiber and the carbon fiber works well with the red and black theme. I did the mirrors, fuel cap and hood scoop( plastic was very faded and looked like ****) Also installed the aero grill

I will have to wash the car and get a better pic up

For the inside I 3D printed some cup holders, works way better than the factory ones!

Welcome to the wonderful World that is MINI Coopers!

2005 - one of the best years to get!

We are in the Albany area and have had our 2004 since late 2003. We know all about this rust belt area. In the winter I attach a rubber garden hose to our laundry room wash tube faucet and use a spray wand to rinse the salt from the car with pretty warm water. The car washes around here don’t use hot enough water to get the salt-ice off. So far, no rust.

Enough about winter Time to think warm!

You are close to Watkins Glen race track. I would suggest going to the IMSA races to watch and cheer the MINI Coopers that will be running. This will be the last year for them.

And enjoy.
