Jumping in head first!

Helllllo Evvverybody,

Big thanks to the wealth of knowledge that this community produces!

I had never considered a MINI (for reasons unknown) until my parents recently bought a 2013 Cooper S Hardtop and followed up quickly with a 2014 R60. They raved about the amount of fun they have driving them so I decided to take a peak at the current offerings.

My dilemma was that I have a 2yr old with another on the way and my 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser was going to be a major pain in the back with the suicide doors and dual car seats. I told myself long ago that I wouldn't get another vehicle unless it had much better gas mileage and low and behold, Mini was coming out with the Countryman PHEV.

After test driving the Countryman Cooper S and then subsequently the SE, I was thoroughly hooked! I just received order confirmation on Mary Lee, a 2018 Countryman SE All4 with Moonwalk Grey, Black Roof, Black Rims, and Chestnut Brown Leather, fully loaded. A big waste of money? Maybe, but I will enjoy the hell out of it in the meantime!

So brown leather with moonwalk grey, big decision. I'm hoping it will go like a grey suit with brown shoes, setting off the whole look. It could look like crap, so fingers crossed.

Mary Lee is named after a 16', 3500 pound Great White Shark that cruises offshore in the Atlantic. (http://www.ocearch.org/profile/mary_lee/). That's a similar weight to the standard F60 lol! Maybe one day she'll weigh as much as the SE haha!

Now the waiting game begins in earnest. Cheers!

Welcome to NAM! Post up some pics when Mary Lee lands in your driveway so we can check on your fashion sense.

Welcome to NAM. FJ, nice! I was sad when they decided to pull the plug and discontinue them. Congrats on the order of your new CM. I love Moonwalk Grey. Great color combination. Be sure to keep us posted and throw some pictures up of Mary Lee once you acquire her.

Thanks for the welcome! I hadn't heard they decided to discontinue the F60 PHEV. Where did you hear that?

Said the Toyota FJ, your previous vehicle, not the F60.

That makes sense, duh! I'm torn about letting the FJ go. I may try and keep it, though the insurance and property taxes are outrageous!

No worries, and yes I totally get it. It's hard to keep more than one vehicle, but if you can swing it you should try to hang onto it. The FJ's will be much more rare in the future and since it's a Toyota it'll last forever. Maybe it'll be a good project/first vehicle for your kids when they grow up.

Hi and welcome to the NAM family. With the high safety rating, cool looks, and decent economy, it is all good! But, the driving fun, is the real attraction!
Congrats on your new buy and I hope you get it sooner than later, as we all hate waiting!
We expect pics here, when you get it!
Keep us posted.
