My first car!

About 3 weeks ago I bought my first car!
It is a a 2005 Mini Cooper S with about 120xxx miles. It is a ton of fun to drive and the first time I have driven manual which is icing on the cake!

I have planned a bit of extra money into my budget for some repairs and preemptive maintenance, to make sure she lasts a long time and runs smooth. I have already done the intake boot, harmonic damper and this weekend I will do the water pump and SC oil. It came with a 15% pulley and aftermarket exaust (The exhaust is a bit much though, it makes a REALLY loud popping sound and I live in a residential neighborhood, so I kinda feel bad about it).

Still though, no regrets!

Welcome again, saw your post in the Gen1 area.

From the front car still looks very good.

I am, I have replaced the intake boot, drive belt and harmonic damper already and this weekend I am doing the water pump, SC oil and crank sensor o-ring.

It came with an aftermarket exhaust and 15% crank pulley, so I am set for awhile!

Hi and welcome to the NAM family.
Glad you found a nice 05 S. I feel the 05/06 are the best gen 1 cars.
Congrats!

Welcome. Most exhausts will pop on a MINI. You might have a non-resonated one. They can get a little louder.

Yeah, if you want to tone it down I'd suggest a resonator. I put one on my exhaust and it helped out a surprising amount. Since it sounds like you're doing your other work by yourself, it's within the realm of possibility as long as you've got a welder. Exhaust shops can handle them super easily, too.

Starting off with a MINI though - you're going to be spoiled by the handling for all other cars!

Wow! Great first car. Doing it right from the very start. Drive safely but enjoy the heck out of it. No better handling or more fun car out there.

Post more pictures of your Mini when you get the chance. Welcome to the Miniest Forum. We are all fans.
