Potential Newbie!

Potential Newbie!
Hey everyone! I'm looking at getting into an 08 mini with 98k miles on it. The car is in great shape asthetically but I'm wondering about known issues with these vehicles, especially with higher mileage. Right now it has a brake light sensor that needs replaced, and the tpms is reading low although there are at remarked wheels on. Other than that, the cat looks and sounds great and has lots of aftermarket addons; oem luggage racks, the racing wheels and exhaust pipes and tips. Thoughts from the pros???

Hello and welcome. 2008. Is it a Hardtop correct. The early 2008 just read off the wheel speed , the TPMS was not until later. What the production date ?

This is a link to the car. She's a beaut and I am sure I can talk this guy down to 5k-5.5k.
In any case, I'm not sure about the production date. Thanks for the other items though. I'll be sitting down with the dealer again in Wednesday to talk more about it and look more in depth at the MX records.

Welcome.
Its an R56 2008 MINI Cooper S, The production datw is on the door jam
I can see its a 6/2008. So its will have the TPMS and the inboard sensors might have been removed as it has aftermarket wheels.
Looks like a Borla exhaust also.
For common repairs see my link above. Those are the big ones.

The best advice I can give is to have the car inspected by a shop. Some of the issues may be under some extended warranty. But some may not so having someone look it over bumper to bumper will give you the best idea of potential problems, or future cost.

1. Definitely needs to get a pre purchase inspection., as WMW advised.
2. If you post up a car that someone else sees as a hot deal, don't be surprised if it gone by the time you go to buy it.
3. Parts wear out at far different rates depending on maintenance and use. One person can destroy a clutch in thousands of miles and another driver can go 100,000 miles or more.
