Noob here and first time mini owner

Hello all. Just picked up my first Mini a couple of weeks ago. Love the car!
2010 R56, completely stock. I already added an amp, sub and front 2-ways, with much appreciated help from this wonderful forum. The moment I drove the car I said to myself.... "yeah... definitely have to upgrade this system"

Specs in case your wondering :

Amp - Hifonics Zeus ZRX616.4 600 watt 4-channel
Sub - Rockford Fosgate R2SD2-12" shallow mount
custom sealed enclosure for the boot made by me (used to be a professional woodworker)
Kicker 5.25" 2-way coaxial
Kicker 3.5" 2-way coaxial

HUGE improvement and I bought the 4 channel amp thinking I would wire the fronts with it too, but after performing the channel swap, they sound great. So now I am waiting for the dual 4 ohm voice coil fosgate sub to run 600 watts to it instead of 300.

Anyways, This forum has already been such a huge help I just had to join. Looking forward to interacting here and doing more upgrades to the car as well. Oh yeah, I also put in a MiniMania air filter upgrade....

Welcome to NAM! The stereo system was one of the first things I upgraded as well. I love my little 10" sub. Post up some pictures of your set up and your R56 for us when you can.

This might be the most needed mod for my mini as well, the sound system in my mini is horrible and the lack of bluetooth streaming is painful ( not a fan of wires ) So is good to see the set up you have i'll be sure to take a few hints from it.
have you posted a video on youtube with the new sound?

Bet it sound really goods, nice set up, the upgrade HiFi system was not that good and the Stcok base system was even worse. When the HK system came out for Gen 2 MINIs 9/2009+ things did get much better. The F56 HK system sounds awesome.

Ok, lets see if I can get this picture thing right

Here's the new ride. Simple and clean....stock

This is my initial install of the sub. I have since turned it upside down. The sub seems to give a better sound firing downward. Also learned that wiring hi level inputs (I hooked into the rear speakers) directly to the amp isn't the best. The sound quality lacked and I had considerable distortion through the sub. I also had to turn the gain and the bass boost almost all the way up to get any real bass, but that is what also led to the distortion. After installing a line level converter and hooking up RCA's to the amp.... What a difference! I can FEEL the bass now

These are the co-axles. Kicker 5&14's and 3&1/2's. These were the sizes I read were in the car, but they are actually too small and didn't fit in the factory holes. The most important thing is to keep the front of the speaker and rear of the speaker in separate "air". So I had to figure out how to install them to sound right.

Weather stripping on the 3&1/2 pod

weather stripping on the 5&1/4 panel

Then I screwed the speakers to the panels themselves to separate the front from the rear.

Final install on the mids.
