The lowering seems to be more of a hassle then worth the look. I would probably bring it back up if I had the original springs. Guess I'll just have to upgrade the suspension good eye!
I'm from Boston but I'm down in Scituate in the south shore. I do trek to the north shore from time to time. Great to see someone nearby. Thanks Pelican on the write up for the engine mount. Any weird surprises when doing the transmission mount? I did the engine and lower mount over the weekend before the snow and with it being nice tomorrow want to complete the trifecta.

Yea, just get coilovers and then you can adjust what you want.

Done them before., No the lower one is easy , quick in and out ( couple bolts ) The upper one can be a bit more work. Were the old ones all cracked out. Power flex also has some upgrade to tighten the lower up a bit , the performance is good for the DD.
Next time, be sure to check out our DIY tech articles on our site. Under MINI > tech info (tab at the top) > R56. We cover all mounts that need replacing as well as tons of other projects. Good job on replacement!
Pelican +1, you have some solid write ups in the DIY. I used them as reference when swapping the upper engine mount. You should add one for the transmission mount. I think you have the r50/53 up there. I'll see if there's a lot of variance in the steps when doing the trans mount.
*Just as a note this all started as I was getting some shuddering when letting the clutch engage with a good amount of torque kicking in. With the amount of engine movement I could not determine if the clutch was worn and needed repair and a flywheel resurfacing. With 80K and 8 years of NE winters I started with the mounts to reduce movement. If the vibrations continue after the final mount replacement. I'll post.
